Ughsmash (3983), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA Oct 16, 2006 Bottle thanks to HogTownHarry! Poured a lightly-hazy medium orange with a short cap of dense off-white head... some light sediment. Nose focused first on floral and candied grapefruit hoppage, some pine bitterness and caramel sweetness... interesting and intriguing. Bitter pine, grass, and grapefruit bitterness on the palate with a respectable caramel and resiny base. Very well-balanced and on the lighter side body-wise. Enjoyed this one! Thanks Harry. LadySusan (462), Ste-Therese, Quebec, Canada Oct 10, 2006 Copper color with short lasting white head. The aroma is of fruit and citrus. The taste is sweet caramel with just a bit of bitterness. A very good Pale Ale. beergut111 (210), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Oct 9, 2006 Poured a brownish amber color. It had a hoppy and flowery taste, but thats about all I can remember because I had already had a few too many when I tried it. XtraStout (46), Alberta, Canada Sep 16, 2006 First off, one of the catchiest names for a brew ever, in my opinion. Smells deilcious, perhaps a bit fruity with a dash of citrus. Delicious. Very nice taste with a beautiful finish. This, I’m sure, is a beer to be had on tap... Papsoe (14642), Frederiksberg, Denmark Sep 3, 2006 (Bottle 34,1 cl) Hazy, amber golden with a small, rough, off-white head. Aroma of caramel and citrusy aroma hops. Medium-bodied with some caramel and then a dry - but not overly refined - aroma hopping with some citrus. A bit boring. 290806 madsberg (4875), Søborg, Denmark Aug 30, 2006 Bottled. Golden coloured. Unclear. Off white beige head. Herbal and fruity aroma with light cocoanotes. Sweet and fruity flavour with flowery notes. Medium bodied. Nicely bitter in the end. Hildigöltur (5109), København, Denmark Aug 29, 2006 Bottled. Explosive. Hazy amber colooured. Fruity aroma with hppy notes. Sweetish flavour with some bitterness in the finish. blankboy (3165), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Aug 21, 2006 Draught at beerbistro during the 2006 Golden Tap Awards. Man, I can’t believe I haven’t rated this yet, I’ve had it so many times! Unfortunately that means I’ve missed my opportunity to rate the ’old’ version which I prefer over this new recipe. Pours a clear deep amber with a small diminishing white head. Aroma of lightly toasted malt, caramel and light citrus hops -- not as hoppy as it used to be, but it still smells nice. Flavour: first sip and right off the bat I have to say I prefer the old Sgt. Majors, this tastes predominently of toasty malt with the hops fighting to get through and a decent bitter finish. Medium bodied. I’m repeating myself here but this is much maltier and less hoppy then it used to be and I vastly prefer the opposite in my IPAs. Maybe the recipe still needs tweaking?
