steyrman (12), TORONTO, Ontario, Canada Dec 21, 2007 A nice beer with bite! Very hoppy, finishes clean, not too sweet. Pungent nose, punchy taste. iambeer (255), Ontario, Canada Apr 30, 2006 Finally LCBO has a real IPA. Hopped danced on my tongue. Citus, spice and best of all close to home. Yum SeamusNeko (45), Anacostia, Washington DC, USA Apr 29, 2004 Setting: Served on tap in a really tall pint glass at Beerbistro.
Appearance: Clear reddish liquid topped by a head reminiscent of slightly yellowed paper. Quite rocky at first, dissipates to a filmy layer in good order and left smallish amounts of lacing.
Aroma: A spicy, peppery, and vaguely floral/vegetal hoppy aroma. This is definitely a British-style interpretation, not an American. Certainly no Cascade or it’s ilk were used. Bready, biscuity malts show up as well.
Flavor: Initially a lovely taste of toasted biscuit, quickly followed by some mildly bitter hops. Again, no Cascades here. Very British and quite a nice change for my over Cascaded-palate.
Palate: Decently medium bodied with some lingering hop aftertastes. Cleansed the palate pretty darn well, too.
Overall: An excellent session beer, I should think. It accompanied my burger quite well, and the beet salad even better. The earthiness of both blended quite well. I have seen other reviewers call this the hoppiest beer in Canada. I couldn’t say that for sure, but I’d definitely say it is the hoppiest one I’ve had so far.
obisbeer (554), Madrid, Spain Aug 30, 2004 Nice rich amber/ brown. Peach, pine, pear very fragrant! Light citrus, w/some pine, soft lingering green flavors. I wouldn’t mind a bit more malt, though very nice! radiomgb (1781), Peterborough, Ontario, Canada Jul 8, 2003 Dark amber in colour. Big aroma of hops and citrus with grapefruit being the most noticeable. Flavour was of hops, hops, and then some more hops. This was quite a thick and sticky beer. The aftertaste lasted for hours.
