Gpnterojd (133), Waterloo, Ontario, Canada Apr 6, 2008 On tap at Castle on King. Amber-orange (in dim lighting) with a modest white head. Sweet aroma of flowers, cherry, almonds - noticeably nutty. Flavour has pine and grapefruit. The malts are definitely shoved out of the way. Earth is present. Feels ’heavier’ in taste than most other IPA’s I’ve had. Medium to heavy body with a creamy texture. Leaves a dry mouth and lingering hops. Tasty, but I’d hoped for more complexity.
Beershine (1515), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Sep 18, 2008 Bottle. Deep jewel tone red-ruby. Incredibly red. Nose is balanced, hoppy but also with meaty caramel malts. Autumnal aromas: crisp, bitter air. Good, quaff-friendly palate. Like an ESB balance of flavors. Roasty, burnt goodness. Very nice. Skidds (214), Ottawa, Ontario, Canada Aug 19, 2008 A fellow LCBO customer saw me buying Mill Street Tankhouse Ale and recommended next time I try this one. I took his advice and was quite pleased. Aroma is quite hoppy with some malty and fruity notes. A hint of caramel also. Flavour about the same with some bitterness. Good job Canada, you’re starting to come around. mannika (73), Toronto, Alberta, Canada Aug 7, 2008 341mL bottle. Pours a clear amber with quickly diminishing head. Aroma is great - hoppy and sweet. Flavour has a big bitterness, yielding to a spicier finish. Aftertaste is a tad metallic - not too bothersome though. Enjoyable - enjoy my IPA a bit less bitter but this is still nice. ILduce (105), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Aug 6, 2008 Stubby: Copper with a small airy head. Big leafy hop aroma with ctrus and malt. Great hop and malt taste backed up by grapefruit and spice. Chewy with a distinct earthyness. Bitter throughout. Solid IPA. hiphop (84), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Aug 4, 2008 Midly hazy copper-bronze body with a medium beige head. The aroma is hops (pine, sap, earth, resin) without being overwhelmingly bitter - in fact it’s fairly mild as far as IPA’s go. The taste has plenty of fruit notes, grassy/pine hops, biscuit-like malt, and a hint of salty/bitter yeast. I like beers that shows off a hint of yeast without detracting from the flavors. Medium bodied, medium carbonation, good hop aroma and flavor without the bite.
