Pours dark brown/black, with a brown head. Aromas are coffee, chocolate, and some vanilla. Flavors are coffee, chocolate and roasted malt. Body is a little too light. Thanks to radiomgb for this bottle.

Bottle aquired in trade with HogTownHarry. This beer pours a dark black with a small brown head. Taste is coffee and chocolate with hints of some raisiny fruity tastes. The fruits are well added though, and this beer is most certainly a good drinkable stout despite the complexity of it’s build. It’s got a nice smooth mouthfeel with a mild bitter ending. Very nice imperial, not overly strong.

Very roasty and very smooth. 9% alcohol is very well hidden. Very black. No real head, just some bubbles here and there.

12oz bottle via trade with CaptainCougar - Thanks Tom! - Pours black with a pretty mocha head that fades quickly to a film but laces some on the way down from there. Nice aroma of roasted malts, some coffee, and just a touch of bakers chocolate. Flavor is chocolate, coffee, molasses, liccorice and some rasin. Definitely some hop presence on the finish that was pleasant. Nice smooth full bodied but very creamy and alcohol was covered well. Enjoyable.

Bottle: Courtesy of Styles. Aroma of chocolate, caramel, coffee, and hints of alcohol. Pours a dark brown, virtually black, with a small brown head. Chocolate and coffee up front. Caramel in the middle. Rather nutty finish almost leaving you with a feeling that you ate unsalted peanuts. Also some burnt notes in the finish. Fizzy mouthfeel needs to be toned down.

2005 bottle, rated 2008: Inky black with a little bit of head. Molasses nose - intense, with some charcoal, plummy depths. This can be nosed for a good long while. A lush creme brulee body with soft treacle and raisin, black sugar malts and toasted sesame seeds. The body has the richness of marrow. Alcohol and a light woody hoppiness dry this one out in the finish. This has aged wonderfully. Bottle at Beer Bistro. 9-4-8-4-17 = 4.2

Original rate: Pretty damn black. Rich dark chocolate and Yunnan coffee aroma. Chewy, chocolatey body with some dark malt, burnt fruits and a fair amount of hop bitterness. Quality, but unexceptional.

Black pour with a little brown head. Roasted, plummy aroma with smoke, vanilla and bourbon. Burnt in flavor and bitter. It has a coffee liqueur quality with a note of rubber. I get a little rubbing alcohol also. Excellent, big oily body though.
