Molasses nose - intense, with some charcoal, plummy depths. This can be nosed for a good long while. A lush creme brulee body with soft treacle and raisin, black sugar malts and toasted sesame seeds. The body has the richness of marrow. Alcohol and a light woody hoppiness dry this one out in the finish. This has aged wonderfully. Bottle at Beer Bistro. 9-4-8-4-17 = 4.2
Original rate: Pretty damn black. Rich dark chocolate and Yunnan coffee aroma. Chewy, chocolatey body with some dark malt, burnt fruits and a fair amount of hop bitterness. Quality, but unexceptional. harrisoni (6771), Ashford, Kent, England
