"I balked at the price, not having been a fan of the base beer the one time I had it...but I know my rating was possibly for a bad bottle. Anyway, in the mood for a deep, malty brew - this hit the spot. The barreling is light, not overpowering, but adding to, the complexity of the beer. Chocolate, vanilla, fruit both from the beer and the barrels, oak, slight peat. Intriguing aroma and flavor. Smooth as hell. Iím surprised at this - may have to give the base another shot.

This is really delicious. Beautiful aromas of caramel, bread and dried fruit. Vanilla too. Not a lot of barrel presence here but thatís OK. Still a great beer. Lots of raisin bread flavors, caramel and other malty sweetness. Excellent

Bottle shared in London - big thanks to the Peter. The nose is big on ripe fruits, dates and figs. Big sweet flavor with some stewed apples, mellow alcohol, more figs, heavy fruitcake. Medium to full bodied with fine carbonation. Sugary malt finish with more fruitcake, heavy read, dried fruis, dates and figs, mild caramel. Sweet but decent.

Bottle thanks to thepeter. It pours clear dark ruby with a small beige head. The nose is sweet, dried fruits, berry, candy, sugar, wood and grape musk. The taste is bitter-sweet, candy, dried berry, dark fruits, wood, warming alcohol, varnish, some acidity and caramel with a dry, fruity finish. Medium body and fine, prickly carbonation. Pretty solid, perhaps a touch sweet though...

750 ml bottle @ Kick. Slightly unclear amber body with a small off-white head. Lovely aroma with dry fruit, malt, light wood and rather vinous. Flavor is much the same as the aroma, dry fruit, smooth malt, wood, not much bitterness and vinous alcoholic. Complex and very nice. Fine body and long aftertaste. Much enjoyable.

750ml bottle. Murky red shade. Nice head that sticks around. Aroma of sweet grains and a really nice evocation of red wine. Taste is similar plus jam-like, stewed fruits as well. Sweet but not overbearingly so. A little heavy to work through at times, but seems easy drinking at others. Although Iíve not had the regular I can say that the BA is very nice.
