Murky garnet hue with good head and lace. Ripe fruit and yeasty aroma with addfitional hints of spice and biscuit. Taste follows suit, fruity with a dry smoky presence. Undertones of aromatic hops and twangy yeast. Chewy and soft mouthfeel. Quality brew that hides alcohol well.

A yummy bottle of love. Nice red color. Beautiful aged malt flavor and aroma. Hints of Fruitiness. You may call this a fruity dopplebock.

Pours orange amber. Big cream-beige head. Fruit and yeast nose. Creamy, butter, light caramel, light to medium bodied, lively carbonation. Pleasantly sweet, alcohol is hidden extremely well. Big malts, delicious fruitiness, finishing with a yeasty twang, and faint bitterness. Very drinkable.

A nice amber/red color with a beige head that lasted a decent amount unline linaticharness'. The aroma was mostly malt but I occasionally detected a spicy smell. The taste was slightly bitter but malty. Overall, it was nice. There wasn't much of an alcohol flavor compared to other 8%s I've had.

a stale water scent, had a nice head that disappeared, nice rich dark ruby brown, a dull slightly bitter malt flavor, a bit of spice, dull on the palate, not that bad...

A great beer! Reddish brown in color with yellow edges. Aroma of sweet malt and spicy pears. I loved the way that the sweet malts ran across the tongue with each sip. Nice and smooth with a fruity ending. Probably the best non belgian style beer from belgium that I've had.

Bottle. Medium-amber appearance, nice big head. Malty aroma with some hints of neutral fruits and alcohol. Well-balanced sweetness in the flavor, with the 8% ABV somewhat concealed but present if you taste for it. Nice!!

The finest head at the beerfest--a beautiful amberlooking beer. THe aroma is all malt, simple, but nice. The malt flavor is dominated by the atmosphere of sugar. It tastes like malt drops in sugar water. The finish tastes similarly. Not at all cloying or disgustingly syrupy like many european strong lagers for example. The flavor grew on me, but remained consistet. the sweetest, balanced, drinkable beer I can recall.

Bottled Aug 20/02. Sweet malt and caramel aromas. Cloudy plum coloured, medium sized toffee head, some floaties, long lasting lace. Hefty carmel/butterscotch flavours, almonds, raisins. Quite complex, very smooth, warms the soul. A terrific beer!

A very good belgian but I think this beer proves you can't brew a scottish with a belgian yeast. Spicy and phenolic aroma and flavor in this makes it out of style, but it's a really good beer. I rated it against the style, but it's score would be higher if placed in the correct style.
