It offers a finely wooded nose hinting at hazelnut, and is therefore distinct from traditional British scotches. It has a more rounded taste letting a discreetly full-bodied bitterness come to the fore, and will naturally seduce you.
Ingredients: Water, pale ale malt, caramel malt, aromatic malt, sugar, yeast, Kent hop, hallertau hop.

750ml served in a Duvel Tulip. A - Pours a dark and clear garnet with 2 fingers of stern khaki foam that retains very well forming a thin cap. A few round dots of lacing. S - Lots of fruit, plums, raisins, fruit cake, sweet malt, some spicy alcohol, T - Loads of caramel/toffee malts, apple brandy, vanilla, brown sugar, very sweet up front, brown bread crust, figs, cherries, apples, plums, dried bananas, sticky raisins, woody alcohol, spicy yeast. Finishes with a tea tannin bitterness. M - Very smooth and creamy feel, low carbonation, Wow! This was very good! Kind of like a Dubbel meets Scotch Ale. Very fruity with a dense malt backbone that had a woody alcohol edge to it. Great feel and I enjoyed every sip. I’m gonna pick up a few of these for Christmas/winter. Serving type: bottle 09-27-2012

Bottle. Pours a slightly hazy deep bronze-hued amber body with a medium, swiftly-diminishing off-white head. Aroma is caramel, raisins, grains, brown sugar, syrup and hints of nuts and dried fruits. Taste is caramel, raisins, nuts, dark syrup and hints of grains, rum and dried fruits. Medium to full body, medium carbonation. Quite pleasant in its caramelly sweetness, though not outstanding in any way.

Bottle from notes. Pours a hazy orange amber color with a medium sized beige head. The aroma and flavor have caramel malts, some butterscotch, figs, dates, some earthy character, fades to the finish, just ok.

A nice dark brown / dark red beer with a slightly brown layer of foam. The aroma contains a hint of alcohol and is somewhat sweet. This all moves on into the taste, which reminded me of Pauwel Kwak. A subtile bitter aftertaste remains

Pours a deep bet with a tan head which dissipates quickly. The aroma is a subtle malt and caramel with the taste follows. Malty and caramel. The palette lingers with the richness of malt. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours a deep brown from the bottle with thin ring of tan head that leaves light lace. Aroma of sweet caramel malt and smoke, hint of dark fruit esters. Taste follows, big and sweet with nice earthy smoke accents. Solid beer, good balance, alcohol well hidden, light carbonation, this one was a bit oxidized, but no idea on the age.
