Sully (1362), Woolloomooloo, New South Wales, Australia Mar 9, 2004 Updated: Nov 21, 2006Excellent copper colour with a really rocky and creamy head. This has a sticky date pudding nose with a hint of peatiness. The taste is mouthfilling and very smooth, like chocolate velvet. While the outside temperature is around the 35C mark, and therefore not scotch ale weather, I am imagining what this will be like in winter. Beautiful balance and smoother than many of its competitors. The McChouffe springs to mind but this one beats it. sayravai (3224), Helsinki, Finland Apr 7, 2004 Updated: Oct 7, 2007(Bottled) Deep, hazy, dark ruby color with a large, foamy and lacy head. Very grainy-malty, sweet and toffeeish aroma with (straw)berries. Something between a barley wine and scotch ale. Sweet, very malty, dried-fruity, creamy toffee flavor with berries, some roastiness, and a mildly bitter finish. Hides the ABV completely. Full-bodied, sugary-sweet, oily, low-carbonated palate. Sweet, sure, but also a very balanced and extremely enjoyable dessert drink. Warming in the coldest winter, while still refreshing in the summer. The Silly brewery is just awesome! JonMoore (1551), Loughborough, Leicestershire, England Jul 4, 2005 Bottle. Nice dark amber colour with large off-white head. Very nice aroma of sweet caramel, malts, dark fruits, butter, sugar. Same elements in the taste. Full bodied creamy mouthfeel. Alcohol well hidden ’till the finish. Excellent. lvdh (5), USA does not count Feb 24, 2008 Very nice ruby colour. Aroma of caramel toffee. Light bitter taste combined with a sweet caramel taste which is very nice. Very good aftertase.
