COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
It offers a finely wooded nose hinting at hazelnut, and is therefore distinct from traditional British scotches. It has a more rounded taste letting a discreetly full-bodied bitterness come to the fore, and will naturally seduce you.
Ingredients: Water, pale ale malt, caramel malt, aromatic malt, sugar, yeast, Kent hop, hallertau hop.

Very interesting take on a wee heavy by a Belgian brewery! Lovely amber pour with generous head. Lighter fruits, nuts, caramel on the aroma, and in the taste too, some lingering sweetness, but a solid, well-made beer.

Dark amber, almost brown, with a cream-colored head and nice lace. Dark fruit aromas, accompanied by roasted malt, caramel, and subtle yeast. Caramel sweetness up front, with dark fruit, brown sugar and a hint of alcohol. Medium body, minimal carbonation, creamy mouthfeel and a lingering pleasant rich malt sweetness.

Single from the SAQ. Pours a deep amber colour with a frothy, beige cap that has good retention and leaves a bit of soapy lacing. Nutty nose at first, but then, loads of apples come out with some butterscotch. Pretty much the same for the taste, but a little milder, and with a tad of alcohol showing. The nuts show more in the aftertaste this time. Decent Scotch ale, but not one I would have again. In this range of strong Scotch ales, preferred the "À l’Abri de la Tempête Corne de Brume".

Nose of dark fruit, figs, sweet malts. Pours a cloudy dark amber witha rapidly dissipating off-white head and no lacing. The taste is sweet, almost cloy. Too surpy for me. Overall, will not drink again. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours a nice brown beer with a good white head. The smell is sweet. Fruity. The taste is light bitter and sweet. The palate is nice. Medium body and a bit sticky. Good beer.

Bottle. Pours dark reddish-brown with a medium beige head. Aroma of molasses, wood, apples and other fruits along with a touch of alcohol. Flavors of molasses, caramel, dark fruits, wood, light alcohol and some earthy hops. Nicely balanced and tasty.

330 ml. bottle. Pours a thick, well retained, ivory head, with some lacing, over a slightly hazy, reddish amber (SRM 16) body....nose is caramel/toffee, light dried fruits....taste is quite sweet, with toffee/caramel tones on candi sugar, with hints of raisin, plum, finishing with a light bitter bite.....mouth feel medium, sticky, carbonation high. This bottle is a rather simple, soda like, almost excruciatingly sweet beer. It lacks the balance of a complex malt backbone to tone down the sweetness. I wonder if the bottle has been mishandled in some way. BJCP 7/3/10/4/7

J’adore. Je vais certainement racheter. Cheers!

33 cl bottle ordered a while back from Doorstep Brew, sampled on March 31, 2913. BB 29/09/13.
Hazy brown color, tan head. Sweet, bread, bisquit, sugary, alcohol scent. The alcohol a bit too evident and overpowers some of the others, dominates too much. Sweet, bread, raisins, lactic, nuts, oily taste. Alcohol is much better hidden in the taste than in the scent, though a warming feeling comes after just a few sips. Smooth mouthfeel, low bitterness.
Not one for drinking fast or many in a row, at least not for me and wanting to not get too tipsy, have good flavor, though the scent was too much alcohol indeed.
