Cask conditioned handpump Victoria Leeds 15/04/13. A golden beer with a tight white head and lace. A pleasant citrussy hoppy aroma. Hops good in the mouth too. Lemony. A biscuity dryness stops it developing too much. Still very competent.

Cask conditioned at The Chequers, Oxford. Gold with white head. This had quite a sweaty character to it, scented and quite thin. Some spruce like notes. Not to my taste.

Cask at Woodin’s Shades, Nicholson’s, London. Pours clear, bright gold with a small, foamy white head. Dirty straw in the nose, some dry, crunchy white bread. Light sweet flavor with mellow straw bitterness, hints of dirt and grass, light lemon rind. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Faint resinous grass, straww and citrus fruit rind to finish, some dirt, light plastic, faint lemon tanginess. Simple little beer.

Aroma: Grain, red apple and shortbread notes.

Appearance: Clear golden body with a medium off-white head that slowly fades. Light carbonation and lacing.

Taste: Pear, citrus and caramel. Grainy and earthy/grassy flavours. Light bitterness.

Palate: Thin body with a watery, slightly oily texture. Soft carbonation.

Overall: Simple, subtle flavours, Personally, it tastes a little too grainy for my liking, but this is a perfectly sessionable golden ale.

I tried this beer at the Scottish Real Ale Festival. Really nice golden appearance hint of lemon in the aroma. Taste was overwhelmingly soapy I found it a bit hard work and couldn’t imagine having more than a couple of pints of it.
