Our standout pale ale balances a light honey taste with bitey bitterness and crisp citrus notes. This is no ordinary beer.

The head is ok, it smells sweet, citrus, fruity, fresh. The taste is sweet, citrus, bit bitter, less body. Ok for a Glutenfee beer!. 12/11/10/10/11/10

Bottled. Light golden colour. Heavily sour flavour, with notes off sweetiness. Flat, untasty beer, with thin palate

Pourer frothy which dissipated very quickly. Colour is light gold which hints at the thinness in the palate. Biggest selling point for this beer is that it is gluten free, and given the (limited) range I have tried this is one of the better ones out there in our neck of the woods.

Bottled. A golden beer with a lazing off-white head. The aroma has notes of hops and malt. The flavor is sweet with notes of lemon, hops, and malt, leading to a bitter finish. Bought in a New World in Christchurch.

Bottle 33 c. Courtesy of Ungstrup. Pours an almost clear golden with a white head leaving a discreet lacework. Oddly chemical aroma. Light body, dry, strange notes of solvents, detergents and chemicals. Quite some hops in the finish. But basically pretty foul. 010510

33 cL bottle, courtesy of Ungstrup. Pours clear and golden yellow with a small white head. Aroma is fruity and slight chemical. Chemical and slight peachy hops fruity flavoured. Dry and bitter, slight chemical phenolic from back of the nose into the finish.

This is my first gluten free ale; and makes me glad I’m not allergic to gluten. Found this ale sorely disappointing; head disappeared immediately leaving a still, falt, off-tasting liquid. Bitter notes added some interest, and a little bit of citrus floated around the nose, but completely outweighed by this being a flat, off-tasting ale. I hope I just got a bad bottle.

Orange in colour with big head that dissapeared quickly. Big candy floss aroma. Grapfuit flavours, short bitterness. MMMMM!

Bottle, purchased on my last visit to the Invercargill Brewery bottle shop before leaving for Canada. This, along with Emerson’s limited release weizenbock, was to be my last kiwi brew before returning home. It pours a bright orange-gold with a lively foamy head. Very fragrant perfumey citrus and resin hoppy aroma. The palate is extremely thin and is dominated by citrus and resin hop character, which unfortunately cannot hide the lack of malt balance. Still, this is by far the most flavourful and enjoyable of any of the gluten-free beers I’ve had, simply because of the generous hop flavours.
