COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A traditional Belgian Bière de Garde brewed for five hours. Boiled on the forest floor over a wood fire in a cast-iron kettle around which a hand-packed mud and brick oven was fashioned.

Sampled on tap at the 2nd annual Urban Chestnut Wolpertinger party in a dimple mug. It poured a hazy orangish-amber color with thick, fluffy, long-lasting beige foam and lots of Belgian lace. True-to-style aromas and flavours: malty, slightly caramelly, hints of toffee, herbal spiciness, woodsy tannins, warming alcohol, cool fruity aspects: dried apricots and golden raisins, faint resiny hops. Medium body and carbonation, lingering multi-layered bittersweet aftertaste. There were lots of beers today in this general style, but this was possibly the best. Better by far than Ommegang, which is high praise indeed. Another great beer from the brand-new Scratch brewery. So glad they came!
