Pours a thin head on a dark, dark brown colored body. The aroma is a rich malt, caramel and a little lemon zest. The taste is malty sweet forward, molasses in the middle and finishes with a mild bitter note. The texture is a little sticky with low to moderate carbonation. An enjoyable sipper.

Easy drinking and good enough for the style from what I know from my weak experience drinking dunkelweizens. Dark amber pour with OK head and lacing. Bottle from total wine.

Bottle courtesy of jercraigs, thanks! Cloudy amber brown color, bright tan head. Aroma of roasty caramel. Taste is sweetish. Caramel. Interesting.

Off balanced with a lot of hops and a watery taste. I'm starting to wonder if a beer doesn't have a certain amount of hops on the West Coast, it's not beer. Getting grapefruit, honey, this is a train wreck. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Really good flavor but far too watery. Cough drop, vanilla, woody, alcohol, floral, citrus

My first beer rating in a while. On tap at Hops Northwest in New Westminster. Served in a large snifter, which is a nice touch. A very dark, not quite black beer with moderate carbonation. A chocolate note on the nose. Chocolate predominates on the tastebuds, with a faint fruity note. Sweet and rich. Body is medium, finish is sweet and lingering. I find many dunkels a bit weak, and this is the perfect remedy. 3.9.

Reddish brown with a thin tan head and spotty lace.
Aroma is light cocoa, some dark fruit, toast.
Flavor is slightly sour wheat, nutty, spice.

Draft - Toast and some cocoa notes. Dark brown with a decent light brown head. Toast and light cocoa with a touch of peppery spice. Interesting and good.

On tap at St. Augustine’s, pours a deep dark brown with a small tan head. Aroma is pretty laid back, with notes of toasted nuts and dry cocoa. Flavour is certainly sweeter than the nose suggests, with notes of sweetened chocolate, light dusty toasted nuts, banana and some caramel. Nothing like an authentic dunkelweizen, but still well-made and enjoyable.

12 oz bottle. Pours a thick brown color. Very little head, no lacing. Aroma is heavy roasty malt, with some caramel. Flavor roasty malt up front with a hint of caramel and coffee. Palate is rather chewy. Overall a decent winter ale.

smells like your typical english strong/winter warmer type beer. dark fruits, and roasted malt. flavor goes south...alarmingly astringent, bordering on sour, and not the good kind of sour. I can’t get over the palate and flavor on this one. RB raters have commented on it regularly but don’t seem to mind as much as i do, but i didn’t dig it."
