2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
12oz bottle poures a light amber color with thin whit head that leaves light lacing. smells of dough, citrus and sweet malt. Tastes of the same things. Mouthfeel is thin and watery with light carbonation. This is just a mediocre pale ale with a the only plus being the high abv.

Lots of grainy malt on the nose, but the hops come out nicely enough. Pine/herbal notes in the flavor especially. Moderately bitter and drinks almost like an IPA. 12 oz bottle.

Light haze on this rich gold beer, tidy off white head. Palate is smooth and a little dry. Rich bready malts, slight grain. A light and bitterish floralness. Modest marmalade and citric peel. Light semi dry finish. Like an Imperial Golden Bitter. Interesting!

Bomber. Unclear amber orange, big firm fine lasting off-white foam. Citric coniferous caramel malt aroma. Taste is darker caramel malt, citrus evergreen hop, faintly floral, mild spice. Average carbonation, medium bodied, well hopped. Tasty clean APA. LBW (Lagerboys Be Wary)

3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle, mine says 7.1% abv. Nose lightly tangy, spicy on a thin caramel base. Pour deep orange with golden highlights and a short, soapy off-white head. Taste sweet with orange juice and tangerine insights, finish bready and drying slightly, light turning to medium bitterness, but this should be considered a sweet beer on the whole. Deft earth, caramel, grass, stronger citrus. Touches of resin and soap, both mild, hops arenít terribly green but are a little raw. Bit rubbery-yeasty in the aftertaste. Medium body, easy-drinking despite stings and burns of rougher alcohols. This is sort of a new age, juicy IPA in search of refinement. [2015.11.11: 3.1]

On tap @ our hotel in Seattle. Medium golden, low white head. Sweet pale malts, candycorn sweetness, very low hop presence and almost no bitterness. Weird.

Big bottle. Biscuity malt, caramel, hay and grains, mild citrus and florals. Lager-ish. Well-carbonated; mildly bitter; a little oily on the palate.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
22 oz bottle into a pint glass.
A: Pours a murky orange color. The head...well, there isnít much head - not even a finger high. Itís off-white shade with terrible retention and almost zero lacing behind. When given an aggressive pour, the head does end up at a finger high, uniformly textured (which is a good indicator of "NEEDS MOAR HOPS"), and still poorly retaining. It actually leaves a touch of lacing behind in this state.
S: This smells extremely malty. There are some hints of citrusy hops, but mostly itís a butt-load of toffee, bread, and earth. Seemingly English-style in approach; this doesnít so much disappoint me as it does realign my expectations.
T: Malts hit first with plenty of toffee and earth. Itís hop character is subtle at best, but there is a noticeable citrusy quality to the finish. Once it warms up, its malt backbone just steamrolls over everything. There isnít much complexity or balance to help keep the malts in check, either.
M: There isnít much carbonation here - but hey, it fits the English approach, amirite? Despite its heavy-handed malt backbone, it has a rather dry and crisp feel. While the malts win out over the unfiltered-ness, itís still a pleasant drink.
O: An over-malted pale ale? An under-hopped IPA? Or maybe itís just "English-style"? Whatever it is, it isnít great. But, it isnít bad, either - especially for $2.50 a bomber. While itís too malty for me to purchase again even at its great price, Iíd still reckon itís worth purchasing once.
