3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 BillKismet (3000) - Seattle, Washington, USA - SEP 13, 2011
Amber bodied with foamy beige head. Profusiion of mid- to heavy hop aroma. Humid, co-humulone is felt, but yet subdued. Woodsy and sharply floral. Overflowing with resin. Nice, sweet, floral hop resin. Full-bodied with well rounded bitterness. A swarthy brew. A glass full of summer’s bloom.
3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 BückDich (5467) - McCall, Idaho, USA - SEP 13, 2011
Bottle: Nice bronze copper color with a retentive well respecting head. Big resinous citrus hops and a mild malty base. Nothing pops out and takes the stage though. Nice hoppy flavor, ample malts and some caramel. A little on the light side. Did they really just warn me when drinking? They obviously don’t know their customers, from top to bottom.
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 DuffMan (5192) - the land of bitumen, beef & beer, Alberta, CANADA - AUG 29, 2011
Bottle, shared with JJ. Hazy orange amber, thick lacy white head. Very hoppy aroma, lots of conifer, sweet, with nice citrus oil aromatics too. Sweet palate, a little syrupy even, with nice juicy citrus and pine hop character. Certainly a sweeter malt body than many American IIPAs (more like the IIPAs from Charlevoix in Quebec), but I still found it very tasty despite the lower-than-average IBUs.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 CampesinoTino (612) - Seattle, Washington, USA - AUG 21, 2011
Bomber (8% ABV) from the brewpub. The appearance is a hazy orange and honey golden color with creamy beige head. Aroma is a sweet and floral blend of hops, toasted malt and candied citrus. The taste opens up with bitter, resinous hops and ruby red grapefruit followed by pine, orange citrus and alcohol toward the back end. The malt holds up against the hops onslaught for the most part. The body has a slightly syrupy, creamy body with moderate carbonation. The finish is mostly citrus and vegetal hops bitterness. Along with the Barley Wine. it’s the brewery’s most enjoyable offering that I’ve tried.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 5000 (4974) - Hardened Liver, Washington, USA - JUL 30, 2011
Bottle: Amberish, hazy, moderate white head, frothy, nice lacing. Semi-sweet citrus rind nose, slight hop bite. Even a bit floral. Citrus peel up front, moderate hop bitterness. Not much malt there. This is not an Imperial IPA, at least compared to others. Maybe a 1½ IPA. Body and mouthfeel are moderate. I would prefer to drink Gale Force IPA over this one as this is not malty/heavy/sweet enough for a big IPA. Not bad, just not what I was hoping for. Yeah, 1½ IPA for sure.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 riversideAK (5413) - Shoreline, Washington, USA - JUL 29, 2011
Fruity nose, some toasted malts, light dank, fruit punch, pepper, citrus. Pours golden amber, great creamy head and sticky lace. The flavor is toasty with notes of caramel, tropical fruit, earthy hops, peppery hops, and light citrus. Nice dryness in the finish. Easy and smooth. Decent little IIPA.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 bvc (1102) - Kenmore, Washington, USA - JUL 27, 2011
UPDATED: JUL 28, 2011 22oz bottle, new to market today. Bottle lists abv at 8%. Pours a darker orange honey golden, clear with a slightly off white head that is on the creamy dense side and leaves behind some moderate lacing. Nose doesn’t lean one way or the other on the hop/malt side...mostly a sweeter fruit punch like aroma. Kind of full on the body and leans toward the slick side...not bad and works with the perfect carbonation. Fruity, touch of bittering, full malt...though doesn’t cross over the line by much, drinks easy and a good value at $4 for the bomber. Happy to support a local brewery and will go get some more while fresh. Could use a new label though...we don’t need any other Seattle area brewers using Pirates in their marketing.

On tap at Bottleworks, pours hazy golden with a medium white head. Aroma of piney hops, grapefruit and citrus. Flavour of intense grapefruit, pine hops, and citrus. Excellent mixture of potent flavours, without any harshness. Wonderful IIPA.
