COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This "imperial IPA" has a very strong hop aroma and flavor, however it isnít as bitter as the Gale Force IPA. There is a strong malt backbone to offer a level of balance but with over two and a half pounds of hops per barrel it resonates hops from start to finish. With so much flavor happening you miss the 8.6% alcohol by volume so be careful when serving or drinking. Hops were added at every stage of the process...it was dry-hopped with chinooks for two weeks. 75 IBUís. Hops: chinook, centennial, columbus, cascade, bullion.

On tap @ Uber. Pours dull burnt yellow with thin head. Aroma is sweet caramel malts with just a hint of hops and some odd funky notes. Taste is big bitter juicy hops, with light citrus and pine notes. Nice caramel malt body that fades quickly into the background next to these hops. Big dominant bitterness. Not top of the class for DIPAs, but excellent for the price. I really had no idea Scuttlebutt could do a beer this good.

With Z, pours a golden rusty orange color with a nice frothy wispy head. Nose is deep citrus , predominance of pineapple with pine and some resin. Taste is bitter citrus with piney and resinous notes. Finish is bitter as well with moderately long citrus ending. Quaff Score 7 / 10

Bottle. Pours a hazy amber orange with an off white head and hoppy, sweet fruity aroma. Taste is bittersweet, hoppy, citrusy, pine notes with caramel notes into the dry finish.

Smells grassy, hoppy and slightly yeasty. Pours light amber and clear, off white head. Tastes of burnt malt, pine, grapefruit and melons. Heavy body, moderate carbonation, bitter. A well balanced imperial, not sweet and enjoyable.

Draught at GJBF Yokohama 2014. Sweet and fruity, biscuit malt, sharp hoppy finish. Good drinkablility, hop fruitiness covering the alcohol nicely.

Round, sticky, resinous DIPA. Quite dry in the finish actually, with some choice PNW hops. Quite mellow in some ways, as it certainly isnít a shouty IPA.

Bottle. Wow, an assault on the palate all the way ... and I liked it. Ruddy, orange-brown, with a thin but resilient head. The aroma is rich with a thick, acidic syrup. This is certainly a fully-laden drink, muscular body, rich flavors of maple, citrus, grape, pine. Big time beer at a surprisingly low 8.6%. (#5731, 9/12/2014)

12oz bottle, purchased from Brennanís in Madison during GTMW. Lot #8140609. Labeled 8%. Half hazy golden orange color. Finger of off-white head. Leaves good thicker lace. Medium to bigger body. Smooth, kind of soft, moderate strength carbonation. Lightly slick. Bigger bitter taste. Light zest. Light sweet. More dry finish. Big piney resiny aroma. Thatís mostly what the hop is like. Little grapefruit. Not so bad, though, pretty enjoyable to sip on. Some light caramel malt. Enjoyable, assertively piney DIPA. What is bullion hop? Never heard of that one. Pretty damn bitter. A little more balance or aroma to match the intense bitterness would be nice.

Bomber from Total Wine Manassas. Pours a clear amber color with a large frothy white head. Good head retention. Aroma of caramel malt, floral hops with a bit of citrus. The taste is caramel malt, herbal hops. Medium bodied, low carbonation, really not hoppy at all for a DIPA.

22 ounce bottle thanks to GCurlow. Orange pour. Malty and a bit syrupy. Citrus. Malty nose.

Tap at Dig Beer Bar, Osaka. Amber color, good creamy white head. Aroma has pine, resin and forest. Medium-bodied. Flavor has also piney resiny hoppyness. Creamy and covers alcohol very well.
