COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This "imperial IPA" has a very strong hop aroma and flavor, however it isnít as bitter as the Gale Force IPA. There is a strong malt backbone to offer a level of balance but with over two and a half pounds of hops per barrel it resonates hops from start to finish. With so much flavor happening you miss the 8.6% alcohol by volume so be careful when serving or drinking. Hops were added at every stage of the process...it was dry-hopped with chinooks for two weeks. 75 IBUís. Hops: chinook, centennial, columbus, cascade, bullion.

12oz bottle, purchased from Brennanís in Madison during GTMW. Lot #8140609. Labeled 8%. Half hazy golden orange color. Finger of off-white head. Leaves good thicker lace. Medium to bigger body. Smooth, kind of soft, moderate strength carbonation. Lightly slick. Bigger bitter taste. Light zest. Light sweet. More dry finish. Big piney resiny aroma. Thatís mostly what the hop is like. Little grapefruit. Not so bad, though, pretty enjoyable to sip on. Some light caramel malt. Enjoyable, assertively piney DIPA. What is bullion hop? Never heard of that one. Pretty damn bitter. A little more balance or aroma to match the intense bitterness would be nice.

On tap at Bottleworks, pours hazy golden with a medium white head. Aroma of piney hops, grapefruit and citrus. Flavour of intense grapefruit, pine hops, and citrus. Excellent mixture of potent flavours, without any harshness. Wonderful IIPA.

Bottle: † Amberish, hazy, moderate white head, frothy, nice lacing. † Semi-sweet citrus rind nose, slight hop bite. † Even a bit floral. † Citrus peel up front, moderate hop bitterness. † Not much malt there. † This is not an Imperial IPA, at least compared to others. † Maybe a 1Ĺ IPA. † Body and mouthfeel are moderate. † I would prefer to drink Gale Force IPA over this one as this is not malty/heavy/sweet enough for a big IPA. † Not bad, just not what I was hoping for. † Yeah, 1Ĺ IPA for sure.

12-oz. Pours a crystal clear golden bronze with a dense, creamy white head that sticks around for a while. Lots of spotty lace. Big plastic nose, showing lots of pine and grapefruit as well. Creamy medium body with lively carb. Plastic, shampoo, grapefruit, pine, and caramel on the mid palate. Long resiny finish.

In short: A well balanced citrusy Double IPA. Unspectacularly enjoyable beer
How: Bottle 22oz, consumed relatively fresh, one month after purchase, bottle sent to me by mcberko, thanks a lot Matt
The look: Cloudy golden-orange body topped by a medium white head with medium retention
In long: Nose of medium intensity is all about citrusy hops, been-there-done-that but never get tired of that type of hoppy aroma. Taste is sweet oranges, some honeyed fortune cookies, bitter white grapefruits, floral and almost soapy notes, residual sugars. Sweetness sensation is medium for the style. The bitterness is sharp but the bitterness level is also only medium for the style. Overall this is a nice big IPA, very easy to drink, not a hop-bomb, not malt heavy, just well balanced. Far from original, but fun to drink nonetheless. It felt good drink a nice IPA like this, I think tonight Iíll drink 6 bombers, because if one bomber of beer can make me good, 6 bombers of beers will make me feel great. Itís just common sense basic math.

Fruity nose, some toasted malts, light dank, fruit punch, pepper, citrus. Pours golden amber, great creamy head and sticky lace. The flavor is toasty with notes of caramel, tropical fruit, earthy hops, peppery hops, and light citrus. Nice dryness in the finish. Easy and smooth. Decent little IIPA.

Bottle: Nice bronze copper color with a retentive well respecting head. Big resinous citrus hops and a mild malty base. Nothing pops out and takes the stage though. Nice hoppy flavor, ample malts and some caramel. A little on the light side. Did they really just warn me when drinking? They obviously donít know their customers, from top to bottom.

12oz bottle. Hazy unfiltered orange-tan body with a frothy, glass lacing head. Decent IIPA, earns some points for being 8.99 a six pack certainly. Leaning towards the toasty side of the IIPA equation, with some dry, biter, grapefruit hops. Bullion hops? First Iíd heard of them..now fascinated. Middle of the road in a lot of respects, but still well executed and pleasant.
