Apple wine flavored and colored with molasses and aged in bourbon barrels for six months. The secret of Rumrunner lies in the barrel. Rich, full-bodied and intriguing Newfoundland Screech barrels were the inspiration for Rumrunner which opens up to reveal notes of molasses, apples and sugar cane. Raise a glass of Rumrunner and let your apples out of the barrel.

Superb cider. Warming alcohol and a definite molasses and oak sweetness that rounds off any cider acidity. This was delightful

Bottle pour. Aroma of apples and rum. Incredibly smooth flavor with apples and sugars. Long smokey finish. One of the best ciders I have had. Amazing.

Bottle, brought to Ian’s house for game night, especially to share with his gluten-intolerent wife. Tawny amber, low carbonation, but not sticky. Aroma is butterscotch and sweet oxidized apples. Sweet baked apple flavours, nice caramel softness, cookie sweetness, with an alcoholic warmth in the finish. Nice, but the older version was smoother and had more complexity. I wonder whether the old opaque bottles perhaps preserved the cider better?

750 ml swing top bottle. Pours a dark copper with almost no head. Aromas of baked apples and brown sugar. Flavors are similar; rich and mellow for a cider, with citrus and dark rum notes. Warm but ABV pretty much hidden. Nice

2014-02-28. Crisp dark amber body, small froth but essentially headless. Aroma of sweet apple cider with alcoholic overtones, notes of apple skins and apple sauce, mild wood character. Flavour is interesting, nice sweet apple must and apples, second wave brings a drier more alcoholic character. Smooth average plus bodied palate, no real carbonation. Pretty nice, the alcohol is just a touch too prominent for me. Bottle via trade with Ferris, Sticker on the bottle says May 28 2013

Amber golden pour. The nose is great - cooked apple, raisin and a bit of vanilla barrel character. Rich and juicy with some nice baked apple character. Really lovely cider.

[Bottle (750ml) shared with HogTownHarry, GregClow, JoeMcPhee, jercraigs & mabel -- c/o j&m] Pours a deep copper-gold with no head, almost oily looking. Nice aroma of apples -- sweet and tart -- along with some light spices, wood, alcohol and a bit of candy. Interesting flavour, tart and sweet along with some spices, wood and alcohol. Average bodied, oily mouthfeel. Pretty good.

750ml clear swing-top bottle shared by jercraigs with me, blankboy, mabel, gregclow and joemcphee. Lovely colour - peach/amber, minimal head - 4/5 for that colour. Aroma is tart apple/apple pie - semi-sweet, a little boozy, don’t really get the rum. Taste - boozy, sweet apple and yeah, there’s the rum. Slick, lightly carbonated, finishes a little funky (oxidized apple?) and increasingly boozy. I liked it, but 750ml? Geddouddaheah!

Small pour at Brouwer’s in Seattle. Rich amber pour with great carbonation. Skunky rich barrel, good wood. Deep orange, comple, very meady orange. Lots of depth and apple.

Bottle shared at Dave’s gathering. First of all, I love the bottle itself. Pours a clear golden body with a very small linen white head. Pleasant aroma of sweet apples, fresh, along with a bit of yeast. The flavor is lovely with fresh sweet apples, clover honey and just a bit of the barrel. I like the subtleness of the barrel in this cider. Nice.
