Fashioned after the famous ales from Burton-On-Trent which took on such bold character after surviving the long, rolling voyage from London to Calcutta in the days of the Empire. This is an amber colored masterpiece in the world of beer styles.

Malt: 2-Row British Pale Ale, Crystal & Chocolate
Hops: Willamette, Cascade
Yeast: Top fermenting English.

Bottle at home from notes. Pours a clear dark amber color with a medium sized frothy off white head that doesn’t last. The aroma and flavor has lightly toasted malt, grains, earthy hops and a mild citrus component with a dry finish. Medium body. There is not much hop bitterness to this and that is disappointing.

KBC IPA has a thin, cream-colored head, a clear, bubbly, orange-copper appearance, and a slight lacing left behind. The aroma is of sweet, fruity, toffee candy. Taste is of caramel candy, citrus pith, English hop bitterness, and sugar, with a background of bread crust. Mouthfeel is light and watery, and KBC IPA finishes crisp and semi-wet. It is certainly an unusual IPA and most definitely NOT of the West Coast style. Overall, this oddity is interesting and enjoyable. Its mouthfeel and finish are lager like. RJT

Copper pour with white head. Aroma has toasted malts and sprucey hops, slightly herbal. Medicinal, with water cracker malts. Finish is spruce and a touch of citrus.

Ratebeer tells me this is bottled and marketed under more than one name. I had it as Kennebunkport IPA, purchased at Trader Joe’s. The color is a medium amber, it’s slightly cloudy and has a little foam. The smell isn’t very good. Reminds me strongly of boiled cabbage. That sums up the flavor, too, although there is also a mild caramel in the finish. I won’t buy this again.

Clear brew and amber in colour. Hops and caramel dominate the aroma although it is reduced and seems to be filtered. Medium bodied brew with a fast finish and dry and bitter finish. boring for the style.

12oz bottle. Pours a light amber with small white head. Aroma is faint citrus. Heavily resinous, grassy bitter flavor. Maybe a bit oxidized. Light bodied, a bit watery with bitter aftertaste. Wouldn’t recommend this.

355mL thanks to Dedicatedtofun! Clear deep orange. Wispy white lacing. Nose is hotel bar soap, intense chemical lavender. Taste is hotel bar soap, intense chemical. Super soapy. Ew. Palate is lemon tea.
