3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
UPDATED: NOV 16, 2007 Rerate After finishing the third from the sampler 12, this has kind of grown on me. A bit more citrusy hoppiness and a sprucey aroma is noticed. Original 2.7 Tallahassee, Fl. - Albertson’s Liquors - 12 oz bottle - part of a mixer 12 pack. Medium copper pour, light white head, not much lacing. Aroma not very apparent, some maple syrup - just a hint of spruce. Flavor has some good subtle bitter notes, a hint of citrus, maybe some maple syrupy. Not all that hoppy. Clean, even mouthfeel. Drinkable, but nothing exciting going on here.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle (35 cl) at Delirium Café, Göteborg, Sweden. Very fruity aroma, not that IPA-like, with some discrete citric and piney hops. Good balance, but it does not feel like an American IPA.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle. Pours copper with a small white head. Nose is sweet and malty with a nice bit of caramel, hint of toffee, and a pleasant hoppiness. Taste is malty and rather sweet for an IPA. Some sweetened iced tea notes, caramel, creamy malts, and light hop bitterness. Light fruitiness( berries) throughout. This would be a pleasant session beer. Body is rather light, but smooth and has mild carbonation. Finishes with more ripened berry flavors, light citrus, rich malts, and caramel. Mild hops lingering as well. A bit too sweet but still very drinkable.

2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
355 ml bottle @ Olutravintola Konttori, Tampere.
Pours clear copper color with a minimal head. Aroma of nettle, malts, nuts and some caramel. Flavor of nuts, fruits and malts. Quite crappy to be honest.

1.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 1/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 6/20
I take no joy in blasting a craft beer. But man, this is terrible. It smells basicaly OK, and looks fine, but it has a hugely watered down palate. And then there is this herbal, harsh medicinal quality that completely dominates the entire thing. Ugh, a legitamate drainpour.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle. Beer of the month club. Clear deep golden to amber color with a medium white head. Aroma of floral and earthy hops with light piney notes and a bit of malt. Sweetish malty flavor, a bit grainy, with some caramel and a bitter hoppy finish, a bit earthy and grapefruity. Medium-bodied. Not bad.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Tame aroma has some light grassy hops and honeyish malt sweetness that is just slightly musty. Amber-copper coloured body is topped by a shy white head that recedes rapidly to the slightest ring. Sweetness in the flavour with some caramel and butterscotch, some grassy, citrus, floral hops and medium bitterness. Medium light body with fair to moderate carbonation. Sampled at Mondial 2006.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottled. Very clear, gold/red color with a massive creamy slowly diminishing head. Aroma very very malty for an IPA, only a hint of orange fruitiness; I liked it but it seemed odd. Flavor also intensely malty, full of caramel and milk chocolate and, to me, not at all IPA-like, even in a subdued English way. More like a lighter Scotch ale or even barley wine, I’d say. Some hops come through at the end to keep it from being too cloying, but those expecting a big hoppy American IPA will be disappointed. I liked it, even if it was unexpected.
