Fashioned after the famous ales from Burton-On-Trent which took on such bold character after surviving the long, rolling voyage from London to Calcutta in the days of the Empire. This is an amber colored masterpiece in the world of beer styles.

Malt: 2-Row British Pale Ale, Crystal & Chocolate
Hops: Willamette, Cascade
Yeast: Top fermenting English.

The appearance had a light fizzy white head about paper thin.. Gently rising carbonation bubbled to the surface. The body was golden brown. The smell was centered around the malts and sugary. The taste was the malts and the sugar with some herbal hops balancing it to make it taste more like a beer and not malt liquor. The palate was light and creamy with a sticky yet dry finish. Overall, a decent sessionable English IPA.

Bottle at home from trader joes. Mostly clear dark orange amber coloured pour with a sticky grey off white head. Aroma is toasted bread and caramel, dome orange rind and dirty pine hop. Some alcohol on the nose. Flavour is toasted Malts, dirty pine, orange, bark. Palate is semi sweet, medium bodied, highish carbonation. Meh.

Hoppy aroma. Bitter hops with citrus zest, but a finish that trails off very early and becomes bland.

Some non flavorful hops in this. Bitter finish with some sourness. Not great but not horrible. Bottle in my buddy’s fridge.

Caramel colored pour, little head. Aroma is caramel, malty, faint citrus and faint earthiness. Taste is malty, toast, caramel, faint pine and faint citrus. On the malty side. Medium body and carbonation. Below average, lacks hoppiness and bitterness is a bit rough.

Average IPA. Tastes identical to their pale ale with a touch more hop. Crisp, bitter...decent summer brew. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

12 ounce bottle. Labeled as KPC IPA from Trader Joe’s. Pours an Amber orange with a medium-sized rocky beige head. Faint citrus hop nose. Flavor upfront is tangy, toasted malt with a hint of pine and bitter citrus hops. Not very complex or interesting. Dry bitter finish.

Bottle from Trader Joe’s Westport. Pours brown with a thin brown head. not a lot of joy on the nose. solid grapefruit on the tongue with some solid bitterness on the finish. Solid but not spectacular example of the style.

Bottle. Amber body with white head. Not very strong aroma of fruits and malts. Taste is a little bit stronger with malts some fruits and hints of pines. Aftertaste is nice balanced between bitterness and sweetness.

bottled - nice amber color with a decent hop character (both in flavor and aroma). Not the best IPA but not all that bad either.

Sea Dog India Pale Ale, brewed by Shipyard in Portland, Maine. 5.7%. The Loop Hotel, Zagreb, courtesy of and shared with Hrabren (thanks!). Golden body with a white head. Sweet, peachy malty, sugary perfumey aroma. Bitterish taste, perfumey, notes of honey and bread, light gum, herbal, nicely balanced, drinkable and tasty even feeling the ravages of time. And you gotta love the label!
