Commercial Description:
Four different malted barleys combine to create a distinctive, full-bodied beer with a roasted nuttiness, uniquely enhanced by a hint of hazelnuts. Smooth and creamy with the nose of the Willamette hop, this porter is a beer style unto itself.

Pours a deep crimson-brown with a light tan head. Wow, there is no mistaking the hazelnuts in either the aroma or flavor here. Accompanying the hazelnuts in the aroma is a subtle roastiness and vanilla. Flavor is hazelnuts, roasted coffee, vanilla, with some hops bitterness in the finish. Nice body, maybe a bit over carbonated. I liked this quite a bit, but it’s not for those who dislike hazelnuts.

A deep rich brown color with a thin head. The beer had a rich dark roasty malt aroma and flavor with a tas chocolate and some hazelnut in the flavor also. This was more porter less nutty. A very nice easy to drink porter.

$8.59 for a six pack at Broudy’s. Aroma is hazelnuts and nut brown ale.. Flavor is malty nut brown ale for an instant, then quickly washed over by astringent, metallic hops which finishes with a slight bitterness. How this can be described as smooth and creamy is beyond me.. It didn’t taste the least bit smooth or creamy to me. Somewhat watery. Very little sweetness. Most defining characteristic is the sharp astringency of the Willamette hops. I wouldn’t buy this again.

12-ounce. Pours opaque dark brown with amber highlights at the corners. No head. Super-concentrated filbert nose; sour and nutty and stale. Maybe they should NOT say "natural hazelnut flavor added" (or whatever) on the label, and leave you to wonder whether maybe this stuff was diluted from concentrate...because it certainly smells like the nut world’s equivalent of opening a can of frozen juice concentrate, with that overly dense aromatic aspect. Moderate body, tingly carb. Nuts and biscuit and a bit of caramel on the mid-palate, with a nasty harsh cola note at the end, leading into a resiny hop finish.

Pours deep brown, puffy head, vanishes quickly. The aroma is like a hazelnut scratch n sniff sticker. Flavor is roasts, hazelnut, finishes dry. Light sourness. Not bad.

12 oz bottle purchased from Bevmo. Mid August 2007. The nose boasts a big hazelnut aroma with perfect sweetness and malt profile. Creates a small development of film and sits gently as a deep brown color. The flavor is chewy with notes of toffee, hazelnut, caramel and a teaspoon of sugar. A very sweet porter with big flavor and will leave a sugary residue around my lips. Decent porter to have one or two of but anymore than that i cant bare it.
