| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Oct 15, 2006 Bottle. Pours dark ruby with a pretty nice head. There is a large amount of gritty hazelnut and a bit of butter and chocolate in the nose. The body is a bit thin with tons of defined hazelnut notes right up front. Maybe some slight chocolate is in the back, and a bit of cola. I didn’t think too highly of this as a porter. thegreenrooster (1821), St.louis, Missouri, USA

Flavor is very sweet and almost soda like. There is some malts and choco but nothing really stands out. Just so-so. chimpscampee (556), Madison, Wisconsin, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 1/5 | 13/20 | Oct 12, 2006 More drinable if you tap out some carbonation. Remarkably strong nice hazelnut flavor but the horrible overcarbonation, watery sweetness ruins this beer. MoreHead (355), Minnetonka, Minnesota, USA

| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Sep 24, 2006 Bottle. Pours a clear very deep ruby with a large mostly lasting foamy off-white head. Aroma: Huh? This is a Porter? A few more sniffs later and it’s starting to kind of resemble a Porter, but not really: there’s roasted malt, light coffee and hazelnuts. Flavour: hmmm, what to make of that? It certainly doesn’t taste like what I expected, in fact it’s nowhere as good as I expected: Slightly roasty with sweet, kind of artficial nutty malt and a hint of hops -- makes for a weird combination of flavours. Somewhat watery too. Light to medium bodied. In the end I would say this is closer to a mediocre Nut Brown then a Porter -- this was O.K. at best, it didn’t do much for me. dkoonce (884), People’s Republic of Athens, Ohio, USA
| 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Sep 15, 2006 Black and fizzy, with a head that reminds me of a root beer. Has a wierd aroma that smelled like roasted almonds. Read the label and see that hazelnuts are part of the ingredients. Fairly sweet, with a strong toasted nut flaver. This tastes like a soft drink it is so sweet. hopscotch (5472), Vero Beach, Florida, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 12, 2006 Bottle... Clear, very dark ruby ale with a small, fizzy, khaki head. Good retention. Chocolate and tons of hazelnut dominate the aroma. Moderately bitter, chocolatey flavor with low residual sweetness and just a pinch of tanginess. Medium-bodied with a milky mouthfeel and medium carbonation. Nutty finish. Very much reminds me of 1994’s Long Shot Hazelnut Brown brewed up by BBC for the winner of their homebrew contest. Thanks to headbanger for the bottle!
