jmuhops (663), Winchester, Virginia, USA Mar 21, 2006 Pours deep garnet with a small off-white head. Remarkably non-opaque. Excellent milk chocolate aroma, with the hazelnut coming in strong with the second sniff. Some toast and nuts. Very good Porter flavor somewhat ruined by a touch of hazelnut. The beginning is roasty, with the hazelnut coming in not long after. The finish is nicely bitter, with lingering almond. Would be better without the extra flavoring (and with a little more roastiness), but still good. jah noth (1015), Rochester, New York, USA Mar 17, 2006 Sweet cola aroma with noble hops. Very thin pour of dark crimson with a nice and fluffy off-white head. Sweet and malty with toasted hazelnuts and a very distinct bitter/hoppy note. As it goes forward, hazelnuts become mildly annoying and artificial tasting. Finishes clean with the ringwood wrapup. Lou18 (1353), West Paterson, New Jersey, USA Mar 16, 2006 Thanks sethdude. This is all hazelnut, nose and taste man. Ricj foamy tan head on a black body. Noy a big fan of hazel nut, but I am like this. zach8270 (2053), Henrietta, New York, USA Mar 10, 2006 (bottle - 12 oz) Clear and deep ruby color with about a half inch of tan head. Roasty and nutty aroma with lots of hazelnut flavor underneath it all. The flavor begins with a nice and roasted malt taste with a very subtle and light hazelnut flavor. Hazelnut isn’t as overpowering as I thought it would be, and the finish is smooth and malty. Lightly bitter aftertaste with hints of roasted malts. Very good porter. bobaidan (358), Farmington, Connecticut, USA Feb 21, 2006 Pours a dark brown with a nice head. Aroma is roasty with nuts. Flavor is mostly roasted malt, the hazlenut is presnet, but is fairly subtle. Finish is smooth. Panzuriel (992), Westerville, Ohio, USA Feb 15, 2006 Dark brown clear liquid with a very dark beige head of persistant fine foam. Nose is a dry and nutty blend of hazelnut and toasted malt. Taste is a nutty and toasty blend that borders on creaminess but is just not quite there. Aftertaste is pleasant bitterness. Nice nice beer. hophead75 (1945), Boonton, New Jersey, USA Feb 8, 2006 Drank this on tap in Portsmouth, NH about a month ago. Remember this beer being a tad too sweet, a bit unbalanced, and obviously having a big hazelnut taste. The problem was, it tasted like sweet liquid hazelnut extract- a taste I do not like in coffee nor I found out in a beer. I think Rogue’s Hazelnut Brown Nectar is a much better beer- as that almost tastes like fresh hazelnuts. NYHarvey (2154), New York, New York, USA Feb 2, 2006 Courtesy of Matta

Mildly roasty aroma, but dominated by the hazlenut aroma. Dark brown with a MASSIVE three finger thick tan head. Fore is big on the hazlenut flavor followed by mild roasty notes hints of vanilla and almond and a smooth clean finish that leaves a tasy lingering flavor of hazlenuts. Fun drinker here.
