Tastes like coffee and nutty, hazelnut. Kind of sweet. Very good. Also a great value at $4.99 for a 6er. sethdude (601), St. Louis, Missouri, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Jan 27, 2005 Pours a deep rich bown with a decent tan head and spotty lacing. Aroma is very much a porter, though there is a heavy hazlenut aroma. Flavor is rich and tangy, roasted coffee and light hops, and lots of nuts in the end. Very flavorful and different, I like it. And it was cheap. Lizabeth (360), east falmouth, Massachusetts, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 29, 2004 Bottle. Dark brown with a quickly fading tan head. Smells and tastes like chocolate covered coffee beans would smell and taste if the coffee beans were dipped in vanilla toffee and rolled in crushed hazelnuts and almonds and then smothered in the best bittersweet chocolate. The final result is delicious without being overly sweet or cloying. Had this beer from a sampler pack; wish I could find it in sixers.

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Dec 18, 2004 Dark poor with some nice tan foam and a bit of lacing. Coffee undertones and a touch of hazelnut in the after taste. jgb9348 (2495), Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia, USA
| 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 1/5 | 8/20 | Dec 17, 2004 Nice dark brown coloured body-not opaque with a thin off-white head that fades fast. Aroma of hazlenuts (no surprise), peanuts, roasted malt, toffee and some subtle raisins. Light-bodied; Pale malt taste with a small amount of nuttyness. No sweetness & no other tastes at all. Aftertaste is bland-no signs of a porter, just a subtle sweetness & maltiness. Overall, not such a great beer-didn’t live up to the small hype I heard about it. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased for under $1 at Trader Joe’s in Tyson’s Corner, Virginia on 24-November-2004 on the Eastern Shore of Virginia. scraff (1942), Baltimore, Maryland, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Nov 24, 2004 Left over bottle from DC/MD/VA/WV/PA gathering. Thanks Jeremy...I think. Mahogany, big rocky off-white head. The aroma was chock full of toasted hazelnut, roasted coffee, with a slight hint of buttermilk. Perfect balance with a just enough hop bitterness on the backside to round things out. Medium bodied and creamy, soft carbonation, drying nutty finish. I’m a sucker for hazelnut brews, and this one is no exception. Very nice.... guzzler67 (1277), Hanover, Maryland, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Nov 16, 2004 If you chilled a hazelnut specialty coffee, you would come up with a similiar aroma. Had a hint of chocolate in there as well. Deep brown with a red edge. The roasted malt taste was nicely carbonated and did not become overly sweet despite the contribution of the chocolate flavor. Finish was a bit chalky. Dogbrick (2855), Columbus, Ohio, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Oct 18, 2004 Thanks to Darkover for the trade. This beer is a dark brown color with a slight ruby tint. Thick and rocky light beage head and light lacing. The aroma is roasted and nutty, with some malt as well. Medium-bodied with a harsh hops character at the forefront. Hazelnut, malt and coffee are all overpowered by the bitter quality in the flavor. The finish is also harshly bitter at times making it hard to enjoy this beer. Not sure if this is an off bottle but I am not a fan of this beer.
