Commercial Description:
Four different malted barleys combine to create a distinctive, full-bodied beer with a roasted nuttiness, uniquely enhanced by a hint of hazelnuts. Smooth and creamy with the nose of the Willamette hop, this porter is a beer style unto itself.

Considering how much I hated the IPA, I was pleasently surprised by this one. Very nice aroma of hazelnuts and coffee and a touch of chocolate. The flavor doesn’t quite live up to the promise of the aroma, but it’s still pretty good. All in all, a pretty nice porter here.

Bottle. Pours pitch black, with lots of foamy head that quickly diminishes. Hardly any lacing on the glass. Aroma is pure roasted hazelnut coffee. It’s a one tricky pony but pretty good. Flavor is pretty much the same. Hazelnut, roasted malts...very cut and dry, but effective. Thin-bodied but smooth and drinkable. If you’re in the mood to drink a hazelnut beer then by all means, chug this bad boy because it’s right up your alley. Looking for the mecca of craft beer creation? Look elsewhere.

12 oz bottle at Oliver Twist, Stockholm. Almost black color with big fluffy head. Bready, chocolatey and nutty aroma with pleasant hazelnut note. Chocolate, hazelnut, bread and some charcoal in the flavor. Overcarbonated.

Coffee and chocolate malts with a sharp bitterness on the nose. Darkish amber color with a large brown head and some lacing. Slight malty taste that fades quickly. Watery palate.

12oz bottle - poured dark brown with small head. Smell was hazelnut. Taste was burnt hazlenut with very little hop flavor. Not a beer I would ever drink again.

Pours a dark brown/amber with a thick tan head. Aroma is chocolate and nuts. Flavor is very light for a porter, with just a hint of hazelnut. Pretty well balanced, but not spectacular.

Bottle says ’porter’ in big letters and ’with natural hazlenut flavor added’ in little tiny letters that I didn’t see before I bought. Big tan foam head is loose and dissipates almost immediately. Very carbonated dark brown beer, not really porter, not smelling or tasting of ’natural’ hazlenut, but more like the syrup at the coffee cart. Weak body, weak aroma, weak flavor. Not a good brown ale either. Just not a good beer. Vague thin bitter coffee taste is in there somewhere. Dissappointing.
