Mar 16, 2004 Updated: Jan 9, 2005Very dark brown with a thick puffy off-white head. Aroma of caramel popcorn with some nuttiness. Starts with a light sugary caramel sweetness and a dry roasty nuttiness. Finishes semi-sweet and semi-dry. All the elements of a great beer are here, but body just doesn’t have the balance of something like Rogue Hazelnut Brown.
I re-tried this and it was full of buttery popcorn diacetyl. Not sure what was going on this time.

Dec 5, 2006 Pours brown with a tan head. Smells of coffee, chocolate and soy sauce. Tastes of hazelnuts and sweet malt. Relatively well balanced.

Jan 2, 2006 My bottle’s label comes bereft of "Riverdriver Hazelnut," but it does add "with hazelnut flavor added," so I’m assuming it’s the same brew. The aroma is a lightly roated malt with a touch of vanilla and a bit of nutty bitterness. Pretty smooth to drink, the roasted taste comes out stronger and the flavor of the hazelnut extract makes itself known. Mildly bitter, toasty finish. Jul 24, 2006 Very dark brown with a foamy beige head. Light hazelnuts, coffee and caramel corn aromas. Sweet dark caramel flavors, mix with a mild hazelnut extract taste. Cobbler and coffee. Hints of dark chocolate and mild dark caramel. Decent flavors that don;t meld well and make things interesting.

Jan 11, 2006 Bottle from Trader Joe’s. Poured a dark brown with an average off-white head that diminished slowly. Medium roasted malt with a sweet tone. Medium body with a smooth texrure. Moderate roasted sweet flavor with a small bitter finish.

Jul 13, 2009 Bottle. Pours a black color with a longlasting tan head. Has a malty nutty hazelnut aroma with some hints of coffee. Roasted malty chocolate flavor with some nutty hazelnut hints. Has a roasted malty chocolate finish with some nutty hints in the aftertaste.
