Aroma of caramel popcorn with some nuttiness. Starts with a light sugary caramel sweetness and a dry roasty nuttiness. Finishes semi-sweet and semi-dry. All the elements of a great beer are here, but body just doesn’t have the balance of something like Rogue Hazelnut Brown.
I re-tried this and it was full of buttery popcorn diacetyl. Not sure what was going on this time. Bov (5514), Bienne, Switzerland

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jan 2, 2006 My bottle’s label comes bereft of "Riverdriver Hazelnut," but it does add "with hazelnut flavor added," so I’m assuming it’s the same brew. The aroma is a lightly roated malt with a touch of vanilla and a bit of nutty bitterness. Pretty smooth to drink, the roasted taste comes out stronger and the flavor of the hazelnut extract makes itself known. Mildly bitter, toasty finish. This is a good session Porter.
