A deep rich brown color with a thin head. The beer had a rich dark roasty malt aroma and flavor with a tas chocolate and some hazelnut in the flavor also. This was more porter less nutty. A very nice easy to drink porter. Sammy (4070), Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Medium mouthfeel, about at expiry date or a bit past. No head, no lace. Soda pop and beer.Overcarbonated. A reasonable though too sweet beverage on a hot summer night. More of the same in the flavor. Too much hazelnut for me. Otherwise, pretty good. FoolishMortal (966), San Diego, California, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 1/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 7, 2007 12oz bottle. Translucent brown-red with a small light brown head. Earthy, nutty malt component and sugary hazelnut in the aroma. Chalky chocolate and toasty malt flavors dominate with an earthen, ruddy hop component. Residual hop bitterness with a coffee bean acidity in the finish, lingering hazelnut. Mouthfeel is a light medium, somewhat smooth. thegreenrooster (1853), St.louis, Missouri, USA

| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Sep 9, 2007 $8.59 for a six pack at Broudy’s. Aroma is hazelnuts and nut brown ale.. Flavor is malty nut brown ale for an instant, then quickly washed over by astringent, metallic hops which finishes with a slight bitterness. How this can be described as smooth and creamy is beyond me.. It didn’t taste the least bit smooth or creamy to me. Somewhat watery. Very little sweetness. Most defining characteristic is the sharp astringency of the Willamette hops. I wouldn’t buy this again. oh6gdx (9162), Vasa, Finland

Flavour is very weird, sweetish plummy, candy sugary, nutty and caramellish. Only weak roastiness noteable. Watery brew.
