3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Appearance is a dark brown with a small brown head. Aroma is immediately smoked malt, with a finish that implies nitro. Taste is again malty, but bitter and smoked. Borders stale but not completely. Palate is frothy and full.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle. Clear dark, deep brown, lights behind reveal some nice hues. Thin light tan head doesn’t last long at all. Hazelnuts in the nose, and not much else. Maybe some toasted sourdough. Very sweet, very nutty. Sugary hazelnut syrup. There’s more "beer" in the flavor, a bit of toasty bitterness, lots of sweet hazelnut and a lingering burnt character. Soft medium body, lots of fizz. A little artificial-tasting, but I don’t hate it. Enough roasty bitterness to balance out the sweet stuff.

2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Pours a clear very deep red/brown with a large foamy off-white head. Aromas of roasted malt, light coffee and hazelnuts. Tastes of slightly roasty but sweet and nutty malt and a hint of hops-- a bit watery. Light to medium bodied.

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bottle from Epsom Circle Market. Aroma is interesting roasted hazelnut with hints of chocolate, a little bit like cigarette ash. Appearance is nice deep clear reddish brown with minimal creamy off-white head with good retention and moderate lacing. Taste is as aroma--rich hazelnuts with hints of chocolate and smokiness, well balanced bitter and sweet. Palate is medium bodied, moderately thick and creamy, with a tad too much carbonation that bites the front of the tongue. Pleasant moderately long smokey bitter finish. Overall, this gets high marks on every front--a real diamond in the rough! Got as part of a mixed cast-off 6 pack but will definitely keep an eye out for this one.

UPDATED: APR 5, 2015 Decent enough. Smells Amazing but the taste isn?t quite as good as the smell. The hazelnut is good and sweet but there?s a slight aftertaste. I liked it and would have again. But the smell made me think more was in store. Bottle

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20

4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
12 oz bottle served in a goblet.
Pours a very dark brown; dark enough to be nearly opaque in the glass. Medium size tan head is creamy and has decent retention.
Aroma: plenty of hazelnut and generic roasted nut notes with some dark bread and sweet caramel.
The taste: Dark malts are more apparent and theres a nice bit of spicy hops. Plenty of hazelnut here too, but not overdone. Transforms from sweet upon hitting the tongue to moderately bitter in the aftertaste.
M: Near creamy smooth; medium-full body; medium carbonation.
O: While it is not up to the Rogue Hazelnut overall, it is a fine brew; one of the best I’ve had from this brewery. The aroma is exceptional.

Bottiglia.
