tylerss20 (89), New Hampshire, USA May 5, 2008 I don’t know, I just didn’t think it was newsworthy. It had the coffee and nutty notes you like with a porter, but none of the body. Perhaps just not my cup of beer, but I didn’t think it was much more than a C+.
EithCubes (1796), Indiana, USA Aug 13, 2008 Bottle. Sweet, syrupy, dusty nose, a bit cloying with smoky notes on top and very strong, very distinct hazelnut. Deep ruby-amber body with a creamy, lacing light brown head. Watery body has some toffee and light chocolate notes, some syrupy nuttiness starting in the mid-body and only increasing. Lihgt red berry and man, those hazelnut fumes are cringe-inducing if you go too fast. Worthy of drinking once, I think, but seems rather like a sugar cocktail with lots of mandated preparation than a bottled beer. Pwn3d (591), NYC, New York, USA Aug 10, 2008 12 oz bottle. Pours brown with a large fluffy tan head. Taste is roasted malts, some chocolate, and coffee. On the thinner side. Good, but a forgettable porter. dwaggs2 (63), Warrensburg, Missouri, USA Aug 3, 2008 Bottle. Pours brown. Decent head. Smells of roasted nuts and caramel. Flavor is weaker. Tastes like coffee and some chocolate. (Rating #1793) ChainGangGuy (1506), Kennesaw, Georgia, USA Jul 13, 2008 Appearance: Pours a clear, dark brown body with a small, fizzy, off-white head. Rather cola-like in appearance.
Smell: Chocolate, roasty maltiness with a mild scent of roasted nuts.
Taste: Sweet-tasting cola and cocoa blend with the underlying taste of roasted hazelnuts. Slight spicy hoppiness, very minor bitterness present. Slight astringency creeps into the drying finish upon warming.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation, though a bit fizzy.
Drinkability: A simple porter with a hazelnut twist. Fairly easily drinkable though.
