Cantaloup nose. Very sweet and melon flavour. Gross canned vegetable palate. Very poor.

Ah Hell I’ll admit it. I bought this beer just because it’s name. A little odd that this beer to celebrate a Canadian town’s birthday, yet was brewed four hours away in the States. Guess they thought the name would sell. Guess I proved them right. Pours a dark amber, thick tan head with lacing. Really nice noise of yeast, chocolate and grapes. Taste of must, bread and raspberry. Here’s the kicker. There is something wrong with taste, there is some odd off flavours and bitterness. Suspect that maybe something besides the right yeast got in the brew. Too bad started off with potential, but...

473 ml can from LCBO. Pours a clear dark amber colour with modest-sized eggshell-coloured head. Aroma is caramel malt, with mild bread and fruit notes. Flavour is also caramel forward with a fair amount of breadiness and light fruity and earthy notes. Average body and carbonation. Fine, but forgettable.

473 mL can. Pours a hazy brown-bronze with a solid light-brown head. The aroma is mild, with bread, sweet bruised peach, a touch of earthy hops, and yeast. There is something not quite right in the flavour though, and it’s really thin. Not enough nutty malt. Some bitterness at the end. Needs work.

Thanks to my GF who found this one at the LCBO. Pours a clean dark amber colour with a frothy beige head, good retention and some decent creamy lace around the glass. Fruity aromas of an amber ale with some more powerful hops than usual. Medium-light bodied with some dryness. The taste has some roasty malts, caramel with the grassy finish. Something does look fake here.

Pours a nice red brick colour with a fizzy white cap. The aroma is sweet, biscuit. caramel, toffee, brown sugar, dark fruit. The flavour is a pretty exact reflection of the aroma. All and all, it does nothing wrong, A little one dimensional. Decent though.

Hazed and slightly browned to red colour. The aroma is all about the caramel malts, toffee and brown sugar but does show a little bit of dark fruit. On the palate those fruity notes jump out at me then those malty sweet and sticky notes and has a slightly bitter finish. I didn’t have much expectations for this brew going into this one but it has more body than I would have thought. Meh, could be worse.

473ml can. Pours a ruby/caramel with a film, white head that laces. Aroma has notes of bread, carameland very slight fruitiness. Taste is on the malty side. Slight caramel and breadiness with a touch of traditional hops to balance it out. Slightly metallic tinge on the finish. Medium body and carbonation. Pretty clean mouth feel. Overall not bad but could be better. Bread and caramel throughout but not a lot. Worth a try.

473 ml can from LCBO, served almost cold in a tulip glass.

App.: Murky mahogany with a smallish light tan head. Aroma: Richly malty with plenty of brown sugar and caramel/toffee and a light savoury note, quite sweet, dark dried fruits, comes off more like a Scottish Wee Heavy than an Irish Ale. Palate: Medium+ body, moderate carbonation. Flav.: A touch lighter than the nose but still seems too rich for an Irish Ale (not that I am complaining...); sweet with some bitterness and a fairly decent, richly malty and somewhat finish.

I find it illogical that this is called an Irish Ale. Drink long and prosper.

Radek Kliber (6324) - Toronto (Can) Krotoszyn (Pol), POLAND - APR 5, 2014
Where and how: LCBO, can 473 ml
Aroma plenty of caramel, tad hint of musk, aromatic hints hop in the middle.
Appearance :
Top: medium sized, bright white , medium density. Nice rings on glass.
Base: clear dark amber, very slight haze.
Palate : thin bodied with lighter carbonation. Slightly oily.
Taste: overly sweet even for style. Plenty of caramel with out malt and more complex sugars. Flat cola like.
Other notes needs some work.

I fucking hate Star Trek & dammit if I don’t hate this beer. Tastes more like a malty soda pop than a beer. I knew I shouldnt have bought this. How embarrassing. Avoid this.
