3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle from Tully's in Portland. Pouts a copper color w minimal head. Aroma is mix of grapefruit and bourbon, strange but nice. Flavor is in the vein of dogfish 120 but neither as bold or as rounded.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
22oz Bottle. Thanks for sharing, Rob! Big aroma of noticeably oxidized hops, barleywine booze, and bourbon. A strong a very aromatic waft. Flavors are complex and ranging, but confused by the heavily oxidized hops from the unfortunately barrel-aged Double IPA. Why do brewers do that to Double IPAs? It’s never a good thing. It just ends up tasting like dust and celery seeds, which in this case mars the quality of the blend. The malt complexity underneath is really enjoyable and has a beautiful range of caramel and toffee notes. Bummer that they had to go and through in barrel-aged double IPA.

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
22 oz bottle from Tully’s. Hazy orange pour, very thick looking, almost like an emulsion. Has tiny little floaties suspended in the glass. One finger white head with modest lace. Complex aroma with almost everything you can think of in there. Caramel, toffe, butterscotch, hops and oak, just for starters. Flavor is quite sweet. Lots of brown sugar and vanilla in the mix, with a strong hop presence. Delightful. Full bodied, almost sticky palate. If you find it, buy it.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
(Draft @ Maine Brewers’ Guild Fest) Aroma of caramel, chocolate, bourbon, vanilla, wood and coconut. Mouthfeel oaky smooth and a touch sticky on the back end. Flavor of bourbon, coconut, vanilla, wood and caramel. ABV barely noticeable. Balanced, smooth. Holy cow.. Mind-blowingly good.
