Keg at the Portland branch. Pours clear brown with a tight, creamy tan head. The nose has lightly burnt toast and dry cocoa. Light sweet flavor with moderate earthy bitterness, some more cocoa, burnt leaves, dry toasted brown bread. Light bodied with fine to average carbonation. Light earthy bitter finish, a bit more cocoa, toast. Totally fine.

Draught, 4.8% at the brewpub. Subtle but good roasted aroma. Very dark brown colour. Small tan head. The flavour is also roasted, a bit like the aroma, but slightly watery. Still nice, though.

@CBC–22oz bottle-pours a light tan ring for a head and brown color. Aroma is roasty, sweet dark malt-chocolate/toffee, some earthy. Taste is roasty, sweet dark malt-chocolate/toffee, equal earthy/spice hops which the malt doesn’t quite hold up.

12 ounce bottle from Whole Foods Market, Darien. Pours a clear brown color with a large frothy brown head. Decent head retention. Aroma of nutty, chocolate malts and faint hops. The taste is caramel malts and citrus hops. Medium bodied.

Dark brown body, moderate khaki head. (3+) Malty, dark fruit and something else in the aroma, but muted. Malty flavour with very small acidic smokey notes that are barely there, but still manage to ruin it for me. Average palate. Not terrible if you like that sort of thing. I did not.
