drawde (115), San Francisco, California, USA Sep 29, 2007 Nice sweet hop smell; cloudy golden color; interesting taste: lots of apricot along with light but very noticeable hop bite.
[tasted next to Victory HopDevil]
the Frye’s Leap is much lighter, more refreshing, more sting. The Victory is bolder, fuller, maltier.
smcolw (177), Wayland, Massachusetts, USA Jul 2, 2009 Cloudy yellow gold color. Very nice head that leaves some lace (because much of it slides down the glass).
Strong caramel aroma, not like a typical IPA. Slight refrigerator smell and nearly no hop.
The taste is big improvement from the smell--there’s lots of hop in this, although there is little in the finish. Very nice body, perhaps the best component in the beer.
If you get by the malty smell, this is a decent IPA offering.

Middling copper color with a thin head. Relatively weak aroma- despite apparent use of plenty of C-hops, not much citrus comes through in the nose- more floral notes. Plenty of burnt malt sweetness on the nose as well. Flavor shows way too much malt, and said malt has a metallic burnt sugar aspect to it. Decent bitterness, and some hop character, but too muddled and ill-defined. Decent on the palate. Overall, a pretty uninteresting IPA with a poor malt character. TheCaptain (430), Lancaster, Pennsylvania, USA Mar 16, 2009 Bottle shared with Philly gents- Hazy orange pour, decent white head. A thin sour feel on the nose and into the pallet with a hop bitterness that gave a sour note I’m not that fond of. rocbyter (836), Waterbury, Connecticut, USA Feb 14, 2009 Sour malt aroma with a good amount of hops mixed in. Clear light orange color with a small white head. Mild dry floral hop flavor. 6ROW (162), corpus christi, Texas, USA Feb 8, 2009 great IPA, the 3 types of hops give this beer a very complex taste and aroma decaturstevo (1757), decatur, Tennessee, USA Jan 22, 2009 Hazed orange pour with fluffy off white head and lace. Aroma of sour fruit. A metallic flavor followed by a sour. Thin with a creamy mouthfeel. Not very tasty. SpringsLicker (1977), Tennessee, USA Jan 11, 2009 Thanks to decaturstevo for sharing this one.
Tall, lasting white head over a clear gold body.
Perfumy floral hop aroma.
Slightly metallic bitterness. fly (1316), austin, Tejas, USA Nov 29, 2008 Solid IPA. Somewhatlight bodied, a bit grassy. I would definitely put in my IPA rotation if it was available here. Glad Dan picked it up and was willing to share.
