3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Tap. Moderate malt notes of toasted, molasses and a hint of dark chocolate, light resin and earth for the hops and yeast, with a hint of vanilla in the background. Head is small to medium, creamy with some bigger bubbles, light brown with excellent lacing and is mostly lasting. Color appeared black in a dimly lit bar. Flavor starts lightly sweet and acidic, then finishes lightly acidic and bitter. Palate is medium to full, watery with a soft carbonation and a slightly drying finish. A pretty good Sweet Stout with plenty of nice attributes, could’ve been a bit more complex though.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Thanks to John for the bomber. Poured deeper brown with a fluffy, sticky dark tan head. The aroma picked up soft, sweet chocolate, vanilla, and oatmeal notes with light roast to it.. a little piney hoppage peeked through and complemented it well.. very enjoyable. The flavor found moderately-roasty chocolate, barley, and black patent maltage at the core, with vanilla and sweeter chocolates extending outward.. earthy bitterness took over from the pine, and really dried out the finish.. the malts lost some direction as the drink progressed, but it was still tasty. Light-medium bodied with dry roast as the dominant characteristic on the palate.. moderate carbonation kept it rolling along.. could’ve used a touch more body, but there wasn’t much to complain about. I need this on cask in my basement.

3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
on tap at the brewery in portland. Reminded me of guiness. Not very complex at all. It was a decent stout. I recomend the barrel aged version. Much better.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Draught @ Sebago Brewing Company, Portland, ME: Comes black, giant marshmallow tan head. Aroma is molasses and toffee, roast coffee, anise and sour cherry. Drinks very smooth, if not a little watery. The taste provides plenty of roasty coffee beans, dark cocoa, lots of bitterness, almost no sweetness at all. Enjoyable!
