Commercial Description:
Our Runabout Red Ale started as seasonal ale that we only brewed from March until July. But it was so popular with our regulars that we started brewing it year round in 2002. Our red ale is made with only two hop additions to the kettle as opposed to three in most of our other brews. This brings out the malt charater. It is a well balanced beer suitable for pairing with all types of foods including spicey sauces, BBQ, grilled meats and vineagerettes and most any seafood. We have started bottling this beer for limited release and distribution at our pubs and specialty beer stores. If you know a store that would like to carry our Runabout Red ale or any of our other craft brewed beers please let us know. We will make it happen.
Brewed with American 2-row, caramel 20L , 40L & 80L. Hopped with Willamette and Nugget

On tap at Darby’s in Belfast. Beautiful red color and long long lasting creamy head. Aroma is warm malt with very little hop presence. Flavor is rounded malt, some darker roast in there. Hops are only noticable in the finish which is a fairly lasting bitterness (round, not harsh). Yay beer!

On tap at brewpub. Poured with a nice, amber color... no head to speak of. Hazy composition. Quite malty aroma, with a burnt-coffee smell. Medium and slightly creamy body on the palate, with soft carbonation. Goes down very easy with a malty, caramel taste that stays with you for an average amount of time. An enjoyable amber that I’d easily have again.

Descent and overall not bad red but lacked a little punch. Had the body a small head and malts and balance slight hoppy flavor.

(Rating #2039)

Bomber, Pours orange with a tan head. Nose is sweet and slightly malty. Taste is slightly malty and sweet, its certainly drinkable but it doesn’t compare in quality to the lake trout stout I had last night.

Draught@Brewpub. Eh... looks great in the pint but once it hits your tounge the whole show goes wobbly. Tastes of orange and sligth hop bitterness. I wonder what hops they use.
