2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Draft at Sebago brewpub with Andrew, Jay and kramer. Pours a deep brownish body with thin white lacing. Aroma is clean malt, grain and light hop. Mouthfeel is medium to light with notes of malt, grain and vague hop profile. Overall, not offensive, but offensively boring.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Keg at the Portland branch. Pours clear, deep red-gold with a lasting, creamy off-white head. Bready malt nose with just hints of piney hops. Light to medium sweet flavor with slightly toasted bread, mild perfumey and piney bitterness, subtle orange. Light bodied with average, massaging carbonation. Simple finish, more bready malts, mellow bitterness. Very basic but nothing wrong.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
In color it’s almost red, more on the amber end, with a touch of red. A thin, off-white head sits atop the beer, which has light carbonation and no head retention. Lacing is wet and slides down too quickly to retain itself. The aroma is a pleasant mix of soft caramel malts and light hops, but very plain. In the mouth, well, it’s kinda weird. It feels a little too thin on the palate. Full in flavor, more or less, but a little too thin-bodied for the amount of caramel in this. It feels a little too wet, too. Bitterness comes through in the finish atop a stale caramel grain flavor, but oxidation seems to be ruining the experience for me. Every once and a while this tastes like it’ll redeem itself, but it never really does. It’s, really, just as I pegged it: a mediocre red/amber ale. Would I suggest it to someone else? No.

4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
UPDATED: JUL 19, 2013 This is a great red ale with a nice malty flavor but an even better hoppy finish. It is heavy enough to go with red meats and fine to enjoy on its own. Very drinkable, especially on $3 tall beer Wednesdays.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Clear medium dark amber, one finger head, sheets of lace. Nice, cleansing caramel malt, grows easily through the palate to a politely bittered finish. Very well done, quite drinkable, particularly for sessions.
