pours a dark amber with thin tan head. aroma is very faint. medium body. tastes of toffee, nuts, light coffee and butter (with hints of alcohol). finish is dark malt with some bitterness. I expected more spice in this, but those flavours are almost non-existent. a nice easy-drinking warmer.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 hockeybeerguy (212) - Portland, Maine, USA - JAN 19, 2013
The appearance is brown with some red hues and a small off white head that leaves some nice lacing. The smell has some dark fruits and a malty aroma. The taste is the same with some caramel in it and slightly bready with some winter spices and nuttiness. The palate medium with a good carbonation. The finish seemed a bit sticky. Overall, a pretty good beer, easy drinking. I would have this again.
2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 Lukaduke (1005) - Portland, Maine, USA - DEC 21, 2012
Pours a deep copper color with a finger of eggshell foam. Aromas are sweet caramel and seasonal spices; nutmeg, cinnamon. On the palate its pretty sticky with a big malt presence thats a touch buttery and overly sweet. Drinkable but not really worth seeking out.
3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 johnnnniee (1496) - Bedford, New Hampshire, USA - DEC 7, 2012
Pours a deep copper color with a huge beige head that persists forever leaving moderate lacing on the glass. Hints of caramel and bready malt mix with earthy spicy hops make up the aroma. A slight mineral edge rounds out the nose. The flavor is toffee and caramel with bread mineral water and earthy spicy hops providing some bit of balance. Medium body with a moderate level of carbonation and a sweet slick mouthfeel. Not a bad beer, I could see myself drinking these.
