Commercial Description:
Formerly known as Sebourg beer, this was rebaptized Saint Druon de Sebourg in 2000.
Malted barley and 3 varieties of hops grown in Alsace form the basis of this recipe, which, unlike Duyck's other beers, also contains wheat from the Beauce region of France, milled in the traditional way by Sebourg's miller. And to give it an even more distinctive flavour, the Duyck's use a specific strain of yeast exclusive to the beer.
St. Druon de Sebourg is the French version of a blonde abbey ale, similar in style to those found across the nearby border in Belgium. It is spicy and effervescent, and much hoppier than typical bière de garde.

My notes on the St. Druon are terse, so we’ll keep the review terse too. The smell is soft and yeasty, with a mineral sheen, corn, mushroom and lemon. It makes an interesting combination, especially with the mushroom. The flavor is very boozy and sweet, with the added flavors of wheat and yeast that are so dominant in the aroma. In fact, the whole flavor is on the precipice of being overpowering. Sweet, but the harsh alcohol side makes this a mean beer to sip.

Bottle. Aroma is mild and smooth. A few hints of wheat. Flavor is hm. Intriguing. Has a distinct flavor, that I can’t quite put my taste buds on. Tastes a bit like an Abbey Ale, only a bit lighter, less malty, and less alcohol flavour. Subtle hints of banana, pear and maybe...hmm....allspice? Coriander? Not sure on this. Pretty good though.

75 cL bottle. Pours clear and yellow with a lacing white head. Dry cornish and unfermented wort aroma. Flavour is dry and grainy, light spiced. Mild yeasty touch into the finish.

Thanks to decaturstevo for sharing this one. Clear light gold with a tall, tight white head. Lacing falls apart. A lightly spicy, funky sweet honey aroma. The flavor is lightly sweet with some dryness in the finish. Easy drinking, light bodied.

Bottle: Strong herbs (cloves and spices) over a sweet malty body. Softens by mid bottle, and then finishes light fruity and candy like. Travelled all the way from France to Brasil to El Salvador and still good. Another good brew from Duycks.
