3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Ungstrup (26476) - Citizen of the universe, DENMARK - AUG 9, 2005
[Vintage 1996, best before 2000, sampled 2005] A muddy brown orange beer with a small orange head. The aroma is sweet with strong notes of over ripe fruit. The flavor is also dominated by over ripe fruit and the end is dry. I think it is slightly over the top. Thanks to Eric, both for sharing this seldom beer and for letting us sleep at Your house on our Quebec brewpub tour.
3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Papsoe (25129) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - JAN 29, 2006
(Bottle 50 cl) Aged sample, vintage 1997. Unclear amber colour with a creamy, beige head. Impure, indefinable aroma. The flavour is dominated by caramelish accents with some quite pleasant notes of sherry (age?) appearing in the finish. This beer starts a bit old and tired but unfolds to be quite interesting - unfortunately not enough to be truly great. Almost no bitterness left. 270106

Bottled- Vintage 1997: Amber coloured. Hazy. Beige head. Dense. Aroma and flaovur is a bit "old". Plums and sherry notes evident. Has prunes and marzipan notes. Is quite sweet in the end. I like it allthough this has had better days.
3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 Lubiere (8335) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - NOV 24, 2006
Deep red copper ale with a thin white head. A nice vinous maderized aroma, with light orange peels, quite nice. In mouth, a rather harsh malt which didnt survive the time (about 1997), varnish, wood, lost a lot of sweetness and body. Sad but inevitable. Shared with the Outaouais Crew, at Old Stock Tasting No. IV, Nov.11 2006.
