Nate (2533), Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA Mar 15, 2007 On tap at the brewery. Awesome mashed grain aromas. Sweet and raw maltiness. Honey and floral hops, orange blossoms and buckwheat. Nice aroma. Light golden amber clear with lacing off-white head. Medium watery body with light medium carbonation. Smooth malt flavor and roasted malts. Mild caramel and biscuit, light nutty sweetness throughout with mild bitter hoppy finish. Quite a session for sure - very smooth and very drinkable. A nice bitter and lasting bitter after.
pjweaver (133), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA Jan 4, 2009 Sample Platter. Biscuit aroma, with bread dough. Mottled murky brown color with a hoppy aftertaste. Foamy cling feel in the mouth. Decent bitter Miver (551), WillowStreet, Pennsylvania, USA Mar 31, 2008 On draft at brewpub. Poured copper gold in color with a creamy white head. Decent lacing left on glass. Aroma of honey, floral and citrus hops, and caramel malt. Taste is of caramel malts, mild honey sweetness with a nice floral hop bitterness in the finish. Very nice ESB... maybe my favorite for the style. wcampbell (572), Central, South Carolina, USA Jan 6, 2008 Good, but nothing too special. The typical taste for a bitter. Medium bodied and easily drinkable. Some hoppiness and a light bitterness. Some caramel malt sweetness. Light finish. kmweaver (2396), Sebastopol, California, USA Nov 23, 2007 Cask, Selin’s Grove Brewing Co. Pours a hazy, orangish-brown color; off-white head with solid retention and lacing. Plenty of biscuity malts and oily noble hops in the aroma; pleasant. Medium-to-full mouthfeel: plenty of oily hops and biscuity, chewy malts; excellent, generous ESB with a resiny hop profile, like a light-bodied barleywine. Medium, dried red fruit and biscuity malts in the finish; lightly bitter. jredmond (1015), New Jersey, USA Oct 14, 2007 On tap at the brewpub. The pint glass reveals a dark orange/reddish body. Nice aroma. Smooth taste, very fresh. Liked this beer. mj (4975), Colorado, USA Sep 29, 2007 Draft at the brewery. Cloudy honey amber colored body, with s thick, fine-bubbled tan head. Sweet and resinous pine sap hop nose, with some heavy fruity (sugar) and dough notes. Very malty, very full and rich and sweet, but also clean and crisp in the back. Oily in the finish, with some high bitterness but also some sticky, sweet pear and pine needle flavors. Finish is exceptionally sweet, that needs to be mentioned, with oily fruit sugars. Fresh flavor, overall, maybe some walnut and apple cider notes as well. Very interesting, and it’s always nice to have a one-hop beer, just to help get a better picture of the hop. zathrus13 (1288), Mount Laurel, New Jersey, USA Feb 25, 2007 On tap at the brewpub. Gold/amber color, with a white head. Hops and malt aroma. Nuts, malt, hops flavor.
