Traditionally made strong & highly hopped so it would keep on its long journey, from England to India during British rule. Ours is a wonderfully bitter beer with a spicy aroma, some fruity characteristics and a lingering hop finish. A great aperitif!

UPDATED: DEC 22, 2013 I have had this beer lots of times now and it remains in my top 3 IPA’s of all time. Served on-tap at the Selin’s Grove Brewpub into a pint glass.

A - Pours hazy orange with a nice creamy one finger tall white head, dissipating down to a light film, leaving light lacing down the glass.

S - Smells of bright citric hops, pine resin, tropical fruits; most notably grapefruit; and sweet caramel malt. Good balance overall all things considered. An absolute hop bomb.

T - Tons of bright citric hops up front giving way slowly to a mix of tropical fruits and sweet caramel malt. The hops are strong but not to the point of being overpowering and the other flavors offer just enough contrast to keep it in balance. The finish has plenty of hop bitterness, lingering for some time. One of my all time favorites, grab some if you can.

M - Medium body and flavor with moderate carbonation. Creamy feel with plenty of lingering hop bitterness in the finish. The alcohol creeps in a tiny bit toward the end but it isn’t a big deal.

O - One of my favorite IPA’s period. I only wish he didn’t "tweak" it so much. Just stick with the one winning recipe and have it on all the time.

Pours dark amber with a beige head. Has a citrus smell and has a delightful balance of hops, coriander, and citrus flavor with the right amount of bitterness to finish. One of the better IPAs I’ve had.

Tap. ON my visit to SG, this was listed as 1.078 OG and 9% abv, so a bit stronger. Deep copper with a lacing beige head. Nose again beautifully mellow, melon, musky, snappy. Medium-bitter, very dry, lightly soapy and cleansing, touch of rye character, straight melon with some citrus and very light pine. Also has a minty note that I’ve only found in the Hüll varieties, a nice surprise. Medium-full, very soft (almost flat) but refreshing and very attractive!

12oz pour at the brewery. Pours a translucent orange with some sudsy white head. Nose is spot on, soapy, piney, orange, lemon, light malt. Flavor is the same, lightly malty, lightly lemony, a little tea, a little stone fruit, unripened plum. Clean finish.

Growler from the brewery. Pours turbid orangy copper with 1-finger of lacy off-white head. Nose is very fruity, with tangerine, mango, caramel malt. Tastes caramel malty, smooth, complex, with mid-palate fruity notes of mango, pineapple, tangerine, and some berry notes. More fruity than piney or resiny, this one is very good.
