Oakes (8057), gone rambling, Vietnam Feb 24, 2009 Hazy light amber with a thick head. Bright hop aroma with hints of wood, nice citrus. Smells awesome. Dry, pithy, herbal with just a hint of almost fruity sweetness. Really nice example. hopdog (5527), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA Feb 9, 2007 Growler acquired in trade from kramer17801 (as part of the Mystery Beer Swap v2) thanks!. Poured a deeper and hazy golden amber color with a smaller sized off white head. Aromas of pine, grapefruit, and light caramel. Oddly enough, the aroma reminded me of a tuna sushi hand roll (not sure why that came to mind, hmmm, I’ll have to go get some sushi tomorrow - could be, I’m just hungry and love sushi). Tastes of pine, citrus (oranges), caramel, and had a grapefruit bitter finish. CaptainCougar (5379), Rockville, Maryland, USA Apr 21, 2007 Hand-bottle sampled on 1/10/07: Pours a slightly hazy copper bronze with a lightly wispy white head. Aroma of sweet pale caramely malt with a ton of big, fresh citrusy grapefruity hops. Body starts with some lightly toasty pale malty flavor turning more bittersweet toward a slightly green, grapefruity hoppy finish. A nice IPA. mj (4973), Colorado, USA Jun 25, 2007 Updated: Jul 27, 2008CO2 and cask tried on separate visits. Has a magnificent cloudy orange haze from the tap. Crisp and frothy, dank, bitter, dry, really wonderful in all aspects. Spicy pine needles invite the nose, fresh dryhopped crisp juiciness lingers on the tongue. Pungent and dank, with fresh crisp citrus and melon. Near perfect IPA. goldtwins (4078), Nesconset, New York, USA Feb 12, 2007 Poured a hazy copper color with an off-white head. Very hoppy and grapefruity with some other citrus as well. It smelled like a ruby red grapefruit. the flavor was lightly sweet with hops from front to back. Some malt showed itself. MNoderately bitter and semi-dry. Hand bottle egajdzis (3602), Spring Mount, Pennsylvania, USA Dec 17, 2006 Poured a lightly hazy, dark amber color with a small, off white head that left light lacing on the glass. Aroma of pine, citrus fruits, floral hops, and a bit of caramel malt sweetness. Taste of more caramel, with nuts, grapefruit, and pine, medium bitter finish. Thanks Paul! Dickinsonbeer (3434), Hoboken, New Jersey, USA Dec 3, 2006 Growler from brewpub. Pours a hazy deep gold, light amber with a thin sticky white head and good lacing. Aroma is very pungent resinous and piney with a strong citrusy grapefruit character. Big chewy body with a modest amount of malt, and light caramel, but the hops are very robust- piney, resin, citrus, orange, with a very tacky and harsh bitterness in the end which is really nice. Great IPA.
