Served on-tap at the brewpub.
A - Pours deep dark brown, bordering on black, with a creamy one and a half finger tall white head leaving sticky rings of lace down most of the glass. The cascade effect when it is first poured is absolutely intoxicating.
S - Smells of fresh roasted espresso, chocolate, touch of vanilla, some citrus fruit and a bit more coffee for good measure. This nose is spot on and makes me want to come back time and time again.
T - Starts off with a HUGE espresso jolt that never really fades into the shadows. Hints of chocolate, citrus, vanilla and finally the oatmeal from the base beer. The coffee is fairly well balanced with all the other flavors, never really getting out of line. Finish is roasty but it doesn’t last as long as others from the style do.
M - Heavy body with moderate carbonation. Smooth, creamy feel from the Nitro worked its magic to perfection. It did go a little flat toward the end of the glass, as most nitro beers do it seems, lowering this one a tiny bit.
O - Well I knew this one was going to be good but not THIS good. The coffee used worked very well with the base and yet it didn’t overpower the base like others do. Get it while you can, it won’t be on for long if I have anything to say about it.
