acrdz (4364), Boulder, Colorado, USA Jul 27, 2008 Pint at Selins Grove. Medium light amber colored body with a white head. Syrupy, fresh, musty hop nose, herbal notes abound, and it’s both bright and crisp and also muddy and a bit messy in the nose. Flavor is bright and crisp, with a wet malt and herbal dill note throughout that I think is supposed to be a crisp, dry, greenish hop quality. Sadly it’s not. Comes across flabby and soggy on the palate, with an unwelcome flavor of fusel corn/ethanol in the finish. CharlesDarwin (1407), State College, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 20, 2008 On tap at the brewpub. Noses in a hot cereal and cashew bread. Soft. Poured a hazed gold, with a rim in white. Flavor starts much too heavy and sweet for this to be enjoyable. Lays dead on the tongue. There are some rich grain notes that develop well, but they’re sticky and wet. Hop presence is subdued to the point thaat I have trouble finding it. I’m a bit torn with this beer, because the malt flavors are better than most pilseners, but the body is just too down. There’s not enough carbonation, crispness, hops or brightness. jehoey (715), Shippensburg, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 20, 2008 Not exactly waht I think of when I think of a pils but good nonetheless. aroma is has a hoppy fruitiness with a doughy back to it. flavor was fruity minerally bitterness with some citrus taste. medium bodied. an enjoyable pint. kmweaver (2121), Takoma Park, Maryland, USA Jun 13, 2008 Draft @ Selins Grove. Pours a slightly hazy, tarnished golden color; creamy off-white head with excellent retention and creamy, fine-bubbled lacing; a gorgeous, effervescent pour. Crisp, hoppy aroma; zesty mineral bitterness over a light, sweet and toasty maltiness underneath; nicely dry, with some floral notes and red fruit maltiness coming through as it warms. Medium-to-full mouthfeel: chewy candy sugar, red fruits and toasted malts; solid balancing presence from zesty mineral bitterness and some citrus / herbal hops; very nicely done, flavorful, drinkable pils; maybe a little too malty and fruity to be a really exceptional one. Still excellent. Lengthy, dry finish: zesty mineral and herbal notes, toasted malts, and cereal. Pwn3d (619), NYC, New York, USA Jun 1, 2008 On tap at the brewpub. Hued yellow complection. Flavor of orange lemon zest. Carbonation of spritz, with hop undertones. Good, really really good.
