On tap at the brewpub 6/8/08: Pours a barely transparent dark mahogany with a frothy dark tan head. Lightly sweet roasty dark caramel nose has notes of coffee and licorice. Body starts fairly full and milky sweet with some earthy licorice and dark chocolate bittering notes before a drier roasty finish. A pretty nice oatmeal stout.

Enjoyed on tap at the brewpub Another master craftmanship by this brewpub. Only mild roast, and only 4.8% a.b.v. Very opaque brown with a light brown head. Taste a bit as if on nitro-tap. Creamy mouthfeel consistent with that. Cold coffee and chocolate, great bittersweetness.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20 beerbill (3043) - Laurel, New York, USA - AUG 31, 2009
On nitro at the brewpub. Arrived at the table black with a moderate creamy off-white head that lasted until mid-glass and left patchy lace. Very pleasant aroma of roasted malt along with some chocolate. The flavor is lightly roasted malt with a bit of chocolate. Incredibly smooth and silky on the palate, and the addition of the oatmeal adds depth and body to the silky smoothness. This is simply a very, very nice stout.

Nitro. Aroma and flavor both unremarkable with bland coffee. Weak body. Eh. Apparently not interesting enough to prompt me to write enough words.

On tap at the brewpub. Pours dark brown with a super thick and foamy tan head like a milkshake. Aroma of light sweet roasted malt. Flavor of sweet oatmeal, roasted malt, and light bitter chocolate. Smooth from the nitro. Meh, this was ok but didn’t stand out from any other oatmeal stout.
