COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Roasted barley is the trademark of stout, a bittersweet separation from its cousin Porter. Our deep black stout is made with a grist containing 15% organic oatmeal to create its remarkable silky texture.

On tap at Selin’s Grove brewpub. Very dark, roasted malts, chocolate, thick and smooth. Probably my favorite of the bunch.

On tap at the brewpub. Fresh, roasty aroma between coffee, chicory and fire. Nice crispness. Pours a black-brown with mahogany fringe and rim in tan. Flavor is gentle but rich and develop. A good interplay of roast, caramels, and coffee. Oatmeal lends a nice body fix. Easily drank, but not watery. I could see cozying up with this in the winter. Clean, with nice flavors, good roast balance and a decent texture. A fine stout.

On tap at the brewpub. My least favorite offering out of the 8 or 9 sampled. A good beer, but SG has some big beers and this gets lost in the bunch.

Draft at the Brewpub. Notes of chocolate in both the aroma and taste. Some roastiness as well. Pretty easy to drink. Selinsgrove knows how to brew their shit.

I liked this better than the Snake drive stout. Had more of a chocolate and oatmeal taste instead of a coffee taste. Reasonably complex. It tasted stronger than 4.8%. Medium bodied and lightly carbonated.

Served on nitro with a firm but fluffy ice cream brown colored head that seemed to last throughout the drink. Huge, rich chocolate and oatmeal nose, somewhat sharp and biting, then oily and "crusty", the oak flakes are incredibly penetrating and rich, and there’s a really interesting dark fruit (plum, black cherry, etc) flavor that develops on the back and in the finish, that’s not sugary or sweet but rather woody and chocolaty, like a dark chocolate covered cherry. Heavy char and roast in the nose, while the body (nitro) is smooth and silky up front before becoming more aggressive and roast-heavy (coarse) over the middle. A very, very good stout.

Growler @ the Moose. Poured a clear deep brown with a gold tint. Smoky and roasty sweet aroma. Some chocolate and coffee notes. Coffee flavor with a sweet roasted malt. Light to medium bodied.

Growler. Sampled at YEHA. Deep black body with thin head. Aroma is chocolate, coffee. Flavor is vanilla, bitter coffee, chocolate. Light taste notes but full flavor. Lightly sweet.

Draft at Brewpub. Pours black with thin beige head. Aroma comes accross a fair amount of roast and some hops. Taste is a bit roasty, chocolate, and a hint of oat. Piney hop finish is nice. The body is a little too thin for me.

Growler shared at Madness. Pours black with a slight off white head and aroma of chocolate and tobacco. Very thin one dimensional body with basically no carbonation. Bitter flavor with bakers chocolate and possiby even a note of citrus in the background. Blah.....
