COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Porter was a favorite of George Washington whose white horse was said to have spent its last days grazing behind Governor Snyder's mansion. In George's day, ingredients such as molasses were often employed to make ale. We use five different malts and a touch of molasses for this ale's smooth and complex taste.

Served on-tap at the Brewpub. A - Pours dark brown bordering on black with a nice, creamy one finger tall off white head leaving light lace down the glass. S - Smells of milk chocolate, old coffee grounds, dark roasted malt, and some faint hop bitterness at the end of each sniff. This nose is a little bit of a letdown. T - Starts off with a good amount of cocoa sweetness that sticks around throughout. Hints of coffee, dark roasted malt, molasses, and some light bitterness; either from the coffee or hops; creeps in at the end of each sip. M - Medium-Heavy body and flavor with moderate carbonation. Rich, creamy, feel that dies down a bit as the beer sits in the glass. Gets a bit watery at the end of the glass but I had no problem finishing it. O - Pretty good. I have always liked porters and this one is no different. It has a good flavor profile and is pretty easy to drink. If you are at the pub and are looking for something new to try, I would suggest this one if it is on.

Heavy roasted nose, sweet light roasted body. Slightly thin but that’s a porter for you

In short: A dark ale with a dominant dark fruit juice flavor. Just ok.
How: Tap at brewpub
The look: Clear dark brown-amber body topped by a beige ring of foam
In long: Nose is on the fruity side. Taste is has a lot of fresh dark fruits, some tobacco a bit of molasses. Roasted level is very low, almost nil. Creamy juicy body. Not bad but a bit too fruit juice to be really enjoyable. That beer name brings back terrible memories. In my mid-twenties I was riding a white horse and fell off but my foot got stuck in the saddle stirrup. But thank god the Wal-Mart lady saw me and unplugged the thing.

Pours a very dark brown color with a moderate off white head. Lots of roast on the aroma with some light notes of chocolate, and some sweetness. Taste is complex with a nice mouthfeel, roasted malts, light coffee, chocolate and a nice molasses/vanilla sweetness lingering in there also, well balanced with a lot going on. Solid brew

On tap at the brewpub 6/8/08: Pours a barely transparent dark mahogany with a fine-bubbled froth of stringy-lacing white head. Aroma of dry toasty caramel and lightly roasted malts with a hint of bready yeast. Body starts lightly sweet and earthy with some toasty dark malty flavor and a drier bittersweet, smooth finish. Quite drinkable.

On tap @ Selins Grove. Dark brown with a dense tan head, looks almost like a nitro head. Aroma of chocolate, caramel and roasted malt. Bittersweet chocolate sweetness with a roasty bitterness and a touch of hop. Medium to full body with a creamy mouth feel and a slightly dry finish. Well done.
