kramer (2407), Sunbury, Pennsylvania, USA Dec 8, 2005 Tap at brewpub. Dark brown, almost black pour with creamy and firm light brown head. Roasted malt aroma, chocolate, coffee, and black strap molasses. Nice dry roasted malt flavor with a good hop background. Molasses really comes thru in the finish with espresso and bitter chocolate. Smooth and soft on the palate, light to medium body. An awesome beer, one of my favorite Porters (I have this often). Very good session beer, though a little high at 5.5% for long session drinking. Dickinsonbeer (3434), Hoboken, New Jersey, USA Nov 1, 2005 Deep brown with amber highlighhts with a very small head. Aroma was sweet with lots of chocolate and some black harsh malts. Flavor has a molasses/sugary taste along with a light malt backbone and low body. Good amount of chocolate flavors throughout which was nice. beerbuzzmontreal (2909), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Oct 24, 2005 Pours a dark brown color with brown highlights and a ring of light brown lace. Aroma of soy and roasted malt. Flavor of soy, chocolate and roasted malt with a bitter finish. The body is light with a dry texture and medium carbonation. pbjclimber (150), Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 24, 2005 I had this at the brewery, it was a very dark brown with a small tan head that had good retention. The taste is of chocolate, carmel, and coffee and is well balanced. Rastacouere (5551), Montréal, Quebec, Canada Oct 11, 2005 Very dark, almost black, it pours from a growler with a limited head. Good supporting vegetal hops stage behind straightforwardly chocolatey malts, airy and fruity if not showing tons of depth besides cigary roastiness. Drinkability beyod criticism, light-medium bodied, gentle carbonation. Seemed a bit middle of the road to me, but I feel the growler might not render it full justice and I’m certainly looking forward to visiting the pub in upcoming years. egajdzis (3602), Spring Mount, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 9, 2005 Poured a mahogany color with a small, light tan head that left light lacing on the glass. Aroma of roasted malts, smoke, tobacco, and chocolate as well. Taste of roasted coffee, some smoke, chocolate, caramel malts, and a light hoppiness as well. Nejhleader (924), Lemoyne, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 23, 2005 really good porter and the best one that i’ve had from this brewery so far. Nice full dark body with a nice cream head. Has a nice roasted taste and a great finish. MaiBockAddict (1499), Good Beer Bar Deprived, New Jersey, USA Jul 3, 2005 Tap at the brewpub. Dark brown, big tan head. Roasty carmel licorice aroma. Big malty roasty hoppy flavors. Malty finish. Nice and chewey.
